Atmospheric Pressure (AP) Sensor

Removal

Barometric air pressure sensor is mounted to engine wiring harness, (near ECM). This sensor is not
bolted to engine.

Move locking tab aside. Pushing down on button toward rear of connector, disconnect from sensor.

Installation

1. Install a NEW sensor on engine. Push connectors together enough that they locked in
place.

2. Slide locking tab to lock position.

3. Secure sensor to wiring harness using a wire tie. It is encouraged to use original factory
sensor cradle to mount sensor.

4. Ensure following conditions:

A. Ensure connector is secured firmly to harness and wire tie is not over wires
routing into rear of connector; or wires, seals, and wire crimps may damage
untimely due to excessive stress.

B. Ensure sensing port (see underside of sensor) has adequate access to

environmental conditions and is not subject to any possibility of damage (direct

water spray, harsh chemicals, and debris etc.) or plugging of sensing port or
sensing element.

C. Ensure sensor and wires will not touch any of moving components and surfaces
that can abrade wires.

Engine Control Module (ECM)

Removal

WARNING: BATTERIES: Service batteries in well ventilated areas and wear

appropriate protective clothing such as face shields/eye protection, rubber gloves and
aprons. Avoid sparks and flames near batteries to prevent battery explosions. If battery
acid comes into contact with skin or clothing immediately flush with water and change
clothing. Apply baking soda to neutralize acid. If acid comes into contact with eyes,
immediately flush with water and get immediate medical attention.

WARNING: Disconnect negative battery cable first when disconnecting batteries to

avoid electrical shock and sparks that could cause battery explosion. DO NOT
disconnect batteries with engine running. Disconnecting batteries with engine running can
cause electrical component failures.

1. Prior to disconnecting harness connectors, note down all programmable parameters,

features, and calibration information from old ECM (for later programming of NEW ECM).

2. Disconnect batteries.

3. Disconnect these items: OEM harness connector, engine harness connector 1, and engine
harness connector 2. Remove ECM to cooling plate bolts

Installation

CAUTION: DO NOT paint backside of ECM. No grease or dirt must stick between
ECM and engine block.

1. Install NEW ECM to cooling plate.

2. Torque ECM bolts to specification: 159 INCH Lbs. (18 N.m).

3. Remove all dirt and moisture from ECM connector ports and harness connectors. Use quick
dry Electrical Contact Cleaner (3824510).

4. Connect these items to ECM: OEM harness connector, engine harness connector 1, and
engine harness connector 2.

5. Secure ECM connector by tightening connector bolts to 27 INCH Lbs. (3 N.m)

NOTE: If installing a NEW ECM, ensure it is calibrated.

6. Once calibration is done, adjust following values: ECM Distance Offset, ECM Time Offset,
Engine Distance Offset, and Engine Time Offset.

7. Connect batteries.

8. Run engine and inspect for functionality.
