“The challenge was to develop a facade with vertical slats arranged

between the floor structures and adjusted to the distance between
the windows. The vertical system with 20 mm joints, combined with
the vertical slat system, emphasises the verticality of the building and
achieves the desired aesthetic.”

This building’s location on a cliff facing the

sea is very special.
Here, Stoneo’s low water absorption gua-
rantees both resistance and durability. Its
resistance to marine environments and wind
loads provides the safety required for this
type of application.

STONEO PURE

The massive block that stands in Bilbao, visible from

hundreds of metres around, has been covered with
M03 colored Stoneo panels. The pelota court is lo-
cated in a high, open area with harsh weather con-
ditions, where the wind and rain lash hard in winter,
while the hot sun beats down in summer. These are
the main reasons behind the decision to clad the
envelope with a material that would age well in this
type of weather, while at the same time ensuring a
natural, pleasant and unique aesthetic.

STONEO PURE

The Arrikrutz cave, an underground labyrinth

of galleries distributed in superimposed layers,
can be found in the heart of Aizkorri mountain
range. Stalactites, stalagmites... time,
together with underground rivers, have
created impossible shapes. The buildings
that house the interpretation centre and
the entrance to the cave had to be integrated
in such a way as to blend in with the
spectacular surroundings. The materials
chosen are therefore of natural origin,
combining a butt-joint stone masonry wall,
the laminated wood roof structure and the
K-slat ventilated facade that blends its
extraordinary properties with represented
shades of the limestone rock that is
predominant in the environment.

STONEO LOOK AND PURE

The choice of texture and sandstone colour in this

project was defined by the fact it had to co-exist with a
historic building located close by. That is why the Hotel
combines the white and stone colours. Stoneo has
been used for both the facade cladding and also the
window surrounds and window sills, which are in the
same tone but with the smooth texture.

“The original idea for the project came from our reflection on the building’s future
inhabitants, its typology and its relationship with the environment. Understanding the
building as a permanent home rather than as a care centre has been a key aspect in
its development.
A delicate issue of particular importance was the choice of materials and products
used for the envelope and its coatings. The strict durability and low-maintenance con-
ditions, along with higher resistance requirements than usual, meant the product ran-
ge was somewhat limited. Its technical possibilities, accuracy of assembly, quality of
finish and, above all, thermal stability in an area so close to the mountains and with
such widely varying temperatures, have all been key factors in opting for Stoneo.”

of wafers and this producer’s famous chocolate bars,
although it is still an abstract pattern that does not
reproduce any specific shape; We had a very tight
schedule, we were practically designing and developing
our ideas as the building was being built. That’s why
we appreciated the fact that ULMA’s team included an
architect who understood our requests to produce this
unique texture in record time. The end result is highly
precise and fully in line with our expectations, as the
pattern was a perfect fit.”

“Our main goal in the initial phase was to integrate

the tradition and history of a city such as Seville in
the restoration of a building with no architectural
value, namely a fusion between tradition and
innovation. To this end, we created a facade
cladding based on the Neo-Mudéjar influence that
is very present in the area, which will filter the entry
of light and create environments with a high level
of comfort inside, while giving the exterior of the
building a modern aesthetic.”

The balconies are the protagonists of this facade,

giving it a light, modern appearance. They define and
propose a symmetrical, clean, minimalist aesthetic.
The Tas Valor studio was looking for a prefabricated
solution where the design and the anthracite
grey finish were key.

Custom balcony fronts have been designed and manufactured

to address the different needs of the building. The most notable
advantages of the material are its resistance to freeze-thaw cycles
and its virtually zero water absorption rate. If we add to this the
absence of reinforcements in the pieces, we can say that Stoneo
