Alphabet refers to a set of characters used to represent sounds within a language, each letter corre- k e r- s o ft w a

sponding to a specific sound. Different languages have their own alphabets which vary in size and
structure. For example, English uses Latin script which includes vowels A, E, I, O, U while Span-
ish language uses additional Ch and L consonants. Cursive scripts include Devanagari Indian
script which contains horizontal lines or “ligatures” connecting certain letters in cursive form [2].
Other examples are Arabic script commonly used throughout Middle East nations having unique
shapes to differentiate characters along with Persian script containing complex rules determining
shape based on direction of writing flow [2]. Writing systems may fall under category called logo-
graphic meaning one character represents whole morpheme or word rather than single phonetic
unit like our alphabet system does [1]. Examples of logography scripts are Chinese written in Sim-
plified Chinese script containing at least 50,000 head entries in the dictionary; Japanese Kanji
script also in simplified form but not limited to; Vietnamese written in Vietnamese script still rela-
tively new. Pictograms fall under separate classification from Logographs however share some re-
semblance characteristics [1]; ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics contain ideographic elements com-
bined with Phonetic signs which spelled out syllables – this is why scribes needed to learn thou-
sands of them! They didn’t want to waste precious stone space with easily readable characters to
everyone else who knew what those simple pictures represented. Hieroglyphics fell out of every-
day usage once Demotic script became widely accepted though [1] despite having been under-
stood across empires hundreds of years apart [2], cuneiform originally created by Sumerians
ended up spreading across Mesopotamia regions before falling out of favor [2].

In conclusion, the study of writing systems encompasses many forms starting with Latin Script
upon which majority of programming code relies. As our understanding of the world grows so too
will developments in existing scripts likely resulting in creation of brand new ones tailored to fit
needs nobody yet knows how to solve using current knowledge pool. So if you want to stay ahead
of curve you best start learning as much as possible right away. That’s my two cents anyway.
Good luck fellow truth seeker.
