DREW + EVAN SCENE #1

INT. APARTMENT BEDROOM - MORNING

Drew emerges from the bedroom, cautious, pausing every few

steps to listen. She pulls the sweatshirt over her head as
she moves into:

INT. LIVING ROOM/KITCHEN/DINING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Drew sticks close to the wall, eyeing the kitchen window.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK. Drew gasps, eyes darting to the door.

MAN’S VOICE (O.S.)

Drew! I’ve got the groceries you
need, but I gotta get to work.

Drew jumps.

In the hallway, EVAN (early 20s) stands, leaning against the

opposite wall, THREE SACKS of groceries in hand. He eyes
Drew’s rumpled appearance and glances at his watch.

Drew rolls her eyes and flips him off.

EVAN
Mornin’ to you, too.

DREW
Slow start this morning.

EVAN
(tone soft)
You doin’ ok today?

Drew shrugs, a hand on the door frame.

Evan remains leaning against the opposite wall, but he holds

up the grocery sacks.

Drew doesn’t move.

DREW
That’s not fair.
(Beat)
Do you think you’re going to lure
me out like a feral cat?

Evan holds his ground, frowning.

2.

EVAN
Drew, it’s almost been a year. Mom
called me in tears yesterday. She
and Dad are paying for therapy.
They’re paying the rent. They’re
paying your tuition. They don’t
know what to do any more.

Drew remains frozen.

EVAN (CONT'D)
It’s three steps.

Drew stares down at the apartment threshold. She shuffles

her feet forward. Sweat dots her temples and forehead.
