ROUND 1: CV & APTITUDE TEST

MOCK APTITUDE TEST GUIDELINE

I. Overall Instruction
1. Introduction

UVTN 2022 Mock Aptitude Test is comprised of 25 multiple-choice questions,

divided into 3 sections as below:

● Verbal Reasoning
● Numerical Reasoning
● Logical Reasoning (Abstract Reasoning)

The amount of time for this test is 30 minutes for 25 questions in total. There
will be NO BREAKS between sections.

For each question, you are given some possible answer options and requested to
choose only one right answer.

2. Notice

You can take the test ONLY ONCE. Therefore, once you have clicked the link
embedded in the mail sent to your inbox and taken your test, proceed with it till
the end.

We advise you to disable system notifications, close applications running in the

background and focus only on taking the test, as the test will be BLOCKED
immediately if any movement or tab switching is detected.

NEVER turn off the browser while taking the test, or it will affect your test result
severely.

II. Test Format Instruction
1. Verbal Reasoning

In this section, there are two types of questions: Reading Comprehension and
Critical Reasoning. You will not need specialized knowledge of the subject
matter to answer the questions.

● Reading comprehension passage comes with questions that ask you to

interpret material, draw inferences or apply to a further context.

● Critical reasoning questions are based on a short argument, usually fewer

than 100 words. Typically, the short text comes with a question that asks
you which of the five answer options tells why the argument is flawed, or
strengthens or weakens the argument.

Sample Critical Reasoning question:

The cost of producing radios in Country Q is ten percent less than the cost of
producing radios in Country Y. Even after transportation fees and tariff charges
are added, it is still cheaper for a company to import radios from Country Q to
Country Y than to produce radios in Country Y.
The statements above, if true, best support which of the following assertions?

A. Labor costs in Country Q are ten percent below those in Country Y.

B. Importing radios from Country Q to Country Y will eliminate ten percent of
the manufacturing jobs in Country Y.
C. The tariff on a radio imported from Country Q to Country Y is less than ten
percent of the cost of manufacturing the radio in Country Y.
D. The fee for transporting a radio from Country Q to Country Y is more than
ten percent of the cost of manufacturing the radio in Country Q.
E. It takes ten percent less time to manufacture a radio in Country Q than it
does in Country Y.

Answer: C

2. Numerical Reasoning

There are two types of questions in the Numerical Reasoning Section: Problem
Solving and Data Sufficiency. Both types of questions require some
knowledge of arithmetic and elementary algebra.

● Problem solving questions ask you to find the most appropriate answer to
the given problem using the information presented in text, tables or
exhibits.

● Data sufficiency question provides you with the problem and two
statements, labeled (1) and (2), which contain certain data or information.
You are asked to decide whether the information given is sufficient to
answer the question and then select one of the following answer choices:

o Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient; but statement (2) ALONE is not

sufficient to answer the question.
o Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient; but statement (1) ALONE is not
sufficient to answer the question.
o BOTH statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are sufficient to answer
the question asked, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient to
answer the question.
o EACH statement ALONE is sufficient to answer the question.
o Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient to answer the
question.

These five answer choices will be exactly the same for all data sufficiency
questions in this section.

In data sufficiency questions that ask for the value of a quantity, the data
given in the statements are sufficient only when it is possible to determine
exactly one numerical value for the quantity.

Sample Data Sufficiency question:

If a real estate agent received a commission of 6 percent of the selling price of a
certain house, what was the selling price of the house?

(1) The selling price minus the real estate agent's commission was $84,600.

3
(2) The selling price was 250 percent of the original purchase price of $36,000.

A. Statement (1) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (2) alone is not

sufficient.
B. Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not
sufficient.
C. BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement
ALONE is sufficient.
D. EACH statement ALONE is sufficient.
E. Statements (1) and (2) TOGETHER are NOT sufficient.

Answer: D

3. Logical Reasoning (Abstract Reasoning)

Logical Reasoning or Abstract Reasoning questions come with a series of images

that follow a logical sequence or underlying rules. You will be asked to choose
the most appropriate answer choice that completes the series, belongs to a set
of shapes,...

Sample Logical Reasoning question:
