Introduction:
From the vast seas, and green lands of Pangasinan, lies a Municipality that is not defined by its class, but
by its majestic scenery, warm and kind-hearted folks, rich history, and what it can offer to the people. An open
book of past accounts, and anecdote of lessons that became its weapon to be more progressive. Balungao,
whose name was derived from the story of young widowed lady, is now ready to progress even more. The
Municipality of Balungao is one of the eastern municipalities of the province of Pangasinan, subdivided into 20
barangays, with an approximate total population of 30,000.
Situated over plains, Balungao is considered as an agricultural municipality where farming and
producing livestock and poultry products are the main source of income.
Balungao is also filled with much cultural heritage, well preserved and being practiced by the town’s
people up to this day.
The Municipality of Balungao is governed by capable and people who have passion in public service
headed by our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Maria Theresa Rodriguez Peralta, Municipal Vice Mayor Hon. Philipp

Balungao VISION:
We envision Balungao to be one of the prime Agri-Eco-Tourism centers of the north with God-loving,
responsible, empowered, healthy, unified and self-reliant citizens, who live in a modernized, sustainable and
ecologically balanced environment, with competitive, diversified, business friendly economy under honest,
competent, committed, innovative leaders with strong political will.
Balungao MISSION:
Promote the general welfare of the people of Balungao by providing the needed social services through
effective law enforcement, infrastructure development, investment and tourism promotion, agricultural
modernization, environmental protection and people empowerment.
Transition:
Small it may seem however, this 4th class municipality has been achieving awards from local, national, and even
international award giving bodies. This assures the people that this municipality provides good local governance
and quality service to its constituents.
SGLG Parameters/Indicators:
Being a Hall of Famer of Seal of Good Local Governance Award, enabled this municipality under the leadership
of Mayor Maria Theresa Rodriguez-Peralta to strive more, and provide service with extra mile to people.
