INTRODUCTION

In today’s generation, online gaming is a


worldwide phenomenon. If a person possesses a
computer, he or she can play games. Internet
access is required. There are games that allow
us to compete with people we know, have not yet
met, and it is also possible to build talent. We can
also do this through internet gaming. Maintain
contact with our pals. Online games are fantastic
since there are games that we can play profit
from. Although many people like online gaming, it
can sometimes be dangerous it have both
advantages and disadvantages. Online gaming is
beneficial because it allows individuals,
particularly young people, to escape from
engaging in risky behavior such as drug use or
joining illegal activities.

Online Gaming exhilarates people and


motivates them to compete with
others. It also makes the player Mentally active
and sharper. At the same time, internet gaming
may have more negative consequences impacts
than good. New generations may experience a
variety of health difficulties, primarily as a result
of a lack of physical activity movements. Online
gaming can lead to addiction and occupy time
that could be spent on other things activities.
Online games have the potential to lead to online
abuse. This primarily affects children who are
playing.
They may also download games from websites
that contain viruses that can infect PCs.

Background of the Study

Nowadays most people are using


technology. People can now make things simpler
for themselves by clicking as technology
advances. Despite being widely accessible to
people, the internet is the largest medium now
being used for global communication. Games are
one of these things. This particular indoor game
is frequently played on computers, televisions, or
mobile devices. There are two types of Video
Games Offline games and online games. Offline
games are usually played in singles while online
games are usually played. While playing online
games, people from all over the world must be
connected to the internet in order to
communicate and connect. Online gaming has
grown immensely popular as a result, especially
among youngsters who can easily access the
internet and enjoy it for no cost.

Addiction they warn if you continue to play


online games that interfere with your daily routine
and academic performance. Because they have
a lot of spare time to play and because
technology has evolved, the majority of students
suffer from online game addiction. Emotionally, it
will impact students' or adolescents' sensibilities.

Based on the researchers One of the most


common ways that people unwind and relieve
stress is through internet gaming. Teenagers that
play these internet games are typically more
relaxed and just enjoying themselves. They said
that it keeps them away from the heat of the sun
and the destruction surrounds their activities.
Without realizing it, playing these indoor activities
has more negative repercussions than positive
ones. Playing online games can increase
knowledge and mental activity.
As a result of some disagreement and a pattern
to follow, it is primarily puzzle- and math-based. It
encourages the user to consider many scenarios
that involve actual life choices, especially in
adventure games that keep players engaged and
more involved. Addiction to online games is a
major issue in our society.

Scope and Delimitations of the Study

The scope of this study is to investigate the


impact of online games technology on Grade 11
ICT students of Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma
Senior High School. The study will focus on
identifying the positive and negative effects of
online gaming on the academic performance,
behavior, and social skills of the students. The
study will also aim to explore the reasons why
students engage in online gaming, and how it
affects their overall well-being.

This study is limited to Grade 11 ICT


students of Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma Senior
High School only. The research will only focus on
the impact of online games technology and will
not include the effects of other forms of
technology. The study will only gather data from
students who have experienced playing online
games, and those who have not played online
games will not be included in the study. The
research will not cover the impact of online
games technology on students outside the school
environment. Lastly, the study is limited to a
specific timeframe and will only cover the current
school year. The study will not include the impact
of online gaming on the physical health of the
students.

Significance of the Study


The rapid advancement of technology in
recent years has resulted in a significant
transformation in various aspects of human life,
including education. One area that has been
greatly influenced by technology is the field of
online games. Online games have gained
immense popularity among students, captivating
their attention and significantly impacting their
daily lives. As a result, it becomes essential to
investigate the implications of online games
technology on students' academic, social, and
psychological development.
Firstly, the study aims to explore the impact
of online games technology on students'
academic performance. With the increasing
accessibility of online games through various
platforms and devices, students are frequently
exposed to these interactive and immersive
digital environments.

Beneficiaries
ICT STUDENTS - can understand the
negative impacts of online gaming, including
addiction, social isolation, and physical health
problems
TEACHERS - By reading research articles
on addiction in online games, teachers can gain a
better understanding of the risks and negative
consequences associated with excessive online
gaming. This knowledge can help teachers
identify and support students who may be
struggling with addiction.
NEXT RESEARHERS - can use their
findings to inform policy development and
implementation related to online gaming
addiction. This can include informing regulations
related to the gaming industry or developing
policies for schools and other institutions to
prevent addiction to online games.

Statement of the Problem


The overall objectives of this study is to
determine the benefits and impact of Online
Games Technology in Grade 11 ICT Students of
Justice Cecilia Munoz Palma Senior High School
during academic year 2022-2023. At this stage of
research, it will show the affects of online games
technology.

Research Questions

1. What are the impacts to the students of


Online Games Technology?

2. What are the risk that students may


encounter on using/playing Online Games
Technology?

3. What are the alternative ways that can help


students on avoiding harmful effects of Online
Games Technology?
