WHAT IS AN INDOOR RECREATIONAL
ACTIVITY?
Are often done for enjoyment, amusement, pleasure or health benefits and are
considered to be fun. It is one way of rejuvenating the mind and the body.

(SCRABBLE) IS IMPORTANT PART OF ONE’S LIFE?
OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson you should be able to:

 Discuss the nature and rules of the game scrabble.


Participates in class discussion / cooperates in group activity.
Apply basic rules in playing scrabble.
WHAT IS SCRABBLE GAME?
Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by placing tiles bearing a single
letter onto a board divided into a 15x15 grid squares.

The tiles must form words that, in crossword fashion, read left to right in rows or downward in
columns and be included in a standard dictionary.

Why is it called scrabble?


It wasn’t always called scrabble. ALFRED BUTTS named his game
LEXICO, then changed the name to Criss-cross Words.
His friend and eventual business partner James Brunot
came up with the name Scrabble in the late 1930’s.

HOW DO YOU START A GAME OF SCRABBLE?

 The player that has the letter that is


closest to “A” will begin the game.

 Every player will start their turn by


drawing seven tiles from the
SCRABBLE bag.
WHAT ARE THE BASIC RULES OF SCRABBLE GAME?

1. There must be at least two to four players.


2. The person who draws the earliest letter in alphabet plays
first.
3. The game progresses as each player lays down tiles on the
board that make up words that connect to already played
words.
4. Tiles can only be placed from left to right, from top to bottom.
Words placed diagonally and backwards are not allowed.
5. After each turn, the tile are added up.
6. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins.
