FACTORS AFFECTING THE GENERAL ACADEMIC STRAND STUDENT STUDENTS OF MATACON SENIOR

HIGH SCHOOL ON CHOOSING COLLEGE COURSES

INTRODUCTION

Making decisions is the most important thing that we will do. Most of the youth are hasty in
deciding on things that should make them important. Especially in choosing college courses. This is
very important to think about before choosing the course of choice without making a decision.
Because of this, we don’t know what to do about how to start the course taken. Because the decision
is rushed. So sometimes they read them of a dilemma or confusion.

Soms entering college student do not even know what they really want to major in. Right now
most high school or senior high graduate’s know what course they want to pursue in college. In fact
when they take entrance examination and when they first fill in enrollment form they are asked what
major they want for themselves.

A quatation say’s “ The youth is the hope of the town” Most young people. Especially college
students, are against the brain, they want to try but can’t handle it, become shicidal. Im making
decisions about their course. The parents will be involve in decisions. Be cause they send to them to
school, they must consult them about their decision in taking college course. Sometimes they are not
aware the course that they took, because they are force by their parents to choose that they want.
There are few students In students in college now that transfer from one major to another. All they
know is that they want to have a college degree. What that degree is does not really matter to them,
as long as they get a college diploma.

So young people have free to choice their courses. And understand what they should do. As a
youth we want to think about what we should choose, because of this depends our dream and have
such in life. As a researcher, we mus fight this course selection, because of this we can measure whet
the student can solve it. And to Choose, we have time to think a choosing college course.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUY

This research is important to choose the right course in college, because it will be the bridge to
your success in life. When the course you choose is right and it is based on the ability you have, you
will be happy in everything you do and you will not feel tired. But you can do all tasks that are given
to you with full skill.

Finding of this study will be beneficial for the following :

• STUDENT - They may be able to determine their choosing colleges course’s.

• PARENTS – They may be guided their children to choose what they want to choose.

• STUDENT - They may be able to choose a college courses immediately.

SCOPE AND DELIMITATION

INTRODUCTION :

The scope and delimitation of a thesis , dissertation or research paper define the topic and
boundaries of the research problem to be investigated.

This study focus on the Factors affecting the GAS Students of Matacon Senior High School in
choosing college courses. To inform or facilitate course selection. This research is not focusing on the
other strand.

There are different factors that affecting students choice of course in college. Students cope by
following their parents advice. They also have to cope with an expectation of financially supporting
the family upon completing their education. The studies presented are important to the present are
important to the present study since the studies explain the importance of taking parent’s advice and
permission in choosing a college course. Choosing a track means looking for to go to college. The track
you will choose will help you prepare for the subject specialization of the college course you will take
in the future. This study presented relevant literature and studies after research recruitment. It
discusses various articles of authors related to the impression of students in the GAS Strand.

A career choice is important because it determines your success in the next stage of your life. One
of the tasks of high school students is to explore and plan for their post secondary career options.
Many factors affects career choices of high school students. Identifying these factors would give
parents, Educations, and industry an idea as to where students place most of their trust in career
selection process.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE.

To many, specifically school students, choosing a course in college is an important real-life

decision. The course that the student will be choosing can exert a huge influence on the outcome of
their lives. Thus, it is of the essence that high school students must deliberate, before having a
resolution in what course are they pursuing in college. Thus, every nation of the world aspires toward
quality of life and social status through Good decision-making in selecting career choice especially
students who are about to pursue in college. Selecting a course in college is arguably one of the most
crucial life. Altering decisions an individual can make.

The objective of the study is to determine the relationship between academic performance and
course selection of the students. There are a large number of studies about the numerous factors that
transpire in the decision- making of students when deciding on what course to study. However, since
the focus of this research is on the relationship between academic performance and course selection
of senior high school students, these will not be reviewed in detail and will only be referred to as
appropriate.

A review of the literature identified the academic skill and capacities of students as an elements
that’s impacts the resolve of students in a academic field of study. This factor would be discussed in
detail and a set of conditions and circumstances would be analyzed, starting with defining academic
excellence and performance in certain subjects to be followed and compared on how college students
choose their career based on their career based on their academic achievements. This would serve as
an insight into the relationship between the influence of the academic performance of st in curses
selection, and influence of academic performance in general specifically in college students who will
be selecting their major and career paths, and last, the influence of academic excellence and
performance of graduating high school students in their chosen course.
