CRITICAL ESSAY

My perception of nursing as a profession, a discipline and a science in the year 2040.

As a profession I perceived Philippines will be lacking of professional nurses because they

will work to other countries for better salary. They say it is the noblest profession as it base on
motherly care and sisterly affection. Men and women both work as a nurse but when a woman
become a nurse, she acts selflessly and tries to provide them with absolute happiness and the
comfort of their homes. She can be as kind as a mother and loving as a sister. She is always smiling,
is consistently kind and loving to the patients, is always soft spoken to her patients and worries
about their health. She works day and night sometimes forget to urinate only to serve and take care
of the patient’s need yet she doesn’t get the acknowledgement she deserves for her hardwork.
As a discipline nurses are employed in certain organizations were, they are obligated to
follow rules and regulations. I perceived that the organizations will provide numerous trainings
and seminars that will increase knowledge, awareness and skill of their employees. They will also
provide new technologies and equipment that will help nurses to lighten their workload and for
faster delivery of quality services.
As a science education is the foundation of us nurses. We must complete our course that
prepares us to meet the different needs of our patients and become safe healthcare professionals.
Nursing course includes detailed education on the anatomy of human body, disease processes,
health policies and hands on instruction to develop clinical skills. The nursing education has been
well studied and tailored to ensure new graduated nurses provide safe patient care. We know that
nursing programs are effective in producing safe healthcare workers because we have been able to
research and understand what education and skills needed to produce safe novice nurses. Once
nurse has graduated to nursing program, They must enroll in post graduate school to help them
improve and enhance their knowledge and skills. We nurse expected to conduct researches enable
us to provide our patients their best health outcome.
