A DESCRIPTION OF THE PLAN OF ACTION

EduNation’s ultimate goal is to provide reliable internet access for students in a secure and
quite location so that one can access their online classes and do research without disruptions. For
such goals to be achieved, a well sough out action plan needs to be implemented. The decision
for constructing the café was based on results obtained from a research titled “An Investigation
of How Students in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at the University of Guyana
Cope with the Hybrid Mode of Learning”. This research showed that many students face
multiple challenges accessing their online classes.

Firstly, there are several frameworks that needs to be assessed, these include acquiring the
land and constructing the building, installing the utilities, acquiring business license, employing
and training workers.

Before any of the aforementioned frameworks are carried out, the business owners plan to
seek a loan of two million and five hundred thousand dollars from the Republic Bank of Guyana.
After this loan is obtained, a secure and quiet area with an available plot of land close to the
University of Guyana will be located after which construction will begin. All legal actions and
processes will be carried out and adhered to before construction begins, these include submitting
plans to the ministries and NDC in order to get permission to commence construction.

The next step is to apply for basic utilities: water and electricity. These will be raised to the
Ministry of Public Works for inspection and certification after which the meters will be installed.
Likewise, the technological utilities will also need to be bought. The owners will seek to buy
desks, chairs, monitors, keyboards, mouses and other office paraphernalia to accommodate the
students. After these are installed, an IT technician will be hired to carry out checks for
functionality of the hardware and software on the computers. Since the building is café, a mini
kitchen will be needed, therefore, this will also be taken into consideration when constructing the
building.
The business plan will be written up and submitted to GRA in order to gain permission for
the business to open and operate under legal regulations. After the business license is obtained,
the employer will seek to hire persons interested in the jobs the business has to offer, however,
each employee needs to undertake hospitality training so as to offer the best service. Jobs offered
at the café include cleaners, cashier, servers, receptionist, and an IT technician.

EduNation will cater for all the students needs, as such it aims at offering a minimal entry fee
per day. Students will be able to study in quiet and comfortable atmosphere with hospitable staff.
