1. If a can of soft drink is randomly chosen from the manufacturing process, determine the
probability that the can:
a. Contains anywhere from 11.97 to 11.99 ounces of drink.
b. Contains at least 12.025 ounces of drink.
2. If a delivery truck contains 1,000 cans of the soft drink, around how many cans will contain
between 11.97 and 11.99 ounces of drink?
B. IQ is known to be normally distributed with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.
C. The weights of the students in a certain year level are normally distributed with a mean of 60
kg and a standard deviation of 3.5 kg. Find the probability that a student randomly selected
from this group weighs less than 55 kg.
D. Let X be a normal random variable with mean 𝜇 = 550 and a standard deviation σ=150. Find
the probability that X will have a greater value than 600.
II.
The number of items sold per day at a retail store with its corresponding probabilities is shown
at the table below. Determine the mean, variance and standard deviation of the probability
distribution.
