1. A statistics teacher believes that fewer than 20% of the Grade 11 students attended
the school Mathematics Festival. She surveys 117 of her students and finds that 22
attended that festival. An appropriate alternative hypothesis is:
A. p > 0.20
B. p < 0.20
C. p = 0.20
D. p ≤ 0.20

2. Which of the following statements is the best example of null hypothesis?

A. There will be no relationship between the amount of coffee you drink and
your blood sugar level
B. As the amount of coffee you drink is minimal, your blood sugar level will
remain constant.
C. As the amount of coffee you drink decreases, your blood sugar level decrease.
D. As the amount of coffee you drink increases, your blood sugar level will
increase.

3. STATEMENT 1: There is a significant difference between the population

parameter and the value that is being claimed.
STATEMENT 2: The statement that will be true once the STATEMENT 1 is
rejected.
Which of the following best describes the two statements
A. Statement 1 is correct and Statement 2 is incorrect.
B. Statement 1 is incorrect and Statement 2 is correct.
C. Both statements are correct.

alternative hypothesis (Ha) in notation forms.

1. The number of defective cell batteries produced by the Maxel company is not
equal to 7 batteries each day as claimed by the manager of the company.

2. A random sample of 60 working Grade 12 students was taken in order to

determine whether the average age of working students is different from 19 years
old.

3. It is believed that the mean yearly salary of public school - teachers in the
Philippines is Php295,000. A random sample of 67 public school - teachers
revealed a mean salary of Php315,000. Can it be concluded that the mean yearly
salary is greater than Php295,000?

1. It is claimed that 87% of the public school - teachers in the Philippines have laptops.
Out of 770,000 public school - teachers surveyed, only 86% have laptops. Can it be
concluded that the percentage of teachers with laptops is different from 87%?

2. The ERB Company produces an average 0f 8% defective LED bulbs each day.
Recently some of the working machines were upgraded. Out of 800 LED bulbs
randomly selected, only 5 bulbs were defective. Does this suggest that there is s
decrease in the number of defective LED bulbs produced each day?

3. The school Nurse of a certain Senior High School claims that the mean height of
grade 11 students is 156cm. An adviser claimed that the mean height of 40 randomly
selected Grade 11 is 158cm. Can it be concluded that the mean height of Grade 11
students is greater than 156cm which is against the claimed by the school nurse?
