Module I: Validating and Normalizing Feelings

ACTIVITY # 1
A. MY DEAR FRIEND
Write a letter to your friend in the space provided. Try to remember the activities
and routines that you have done at home during the quarantine period and tell
him/her your feelings about it.

Dear Cameron

I was sad during the pandemic and since I can’t talk with you I got bored.

I mostly played online games when the pandemic first started.

But after couple of months and when I can go out I played sports such

as Badminton and Basketball. I also did go to places such as my cousin’s

and my grandparent’s house.

B. Common Reactions of Students to Stressful Events

Read the following reactions of students when they encounter
challenging events in life. Do you have the same reactions as them? How do
you deal with these difficult situations, especially during this pandemic?
Elaborate your answers.

_I have the same reaction if I am facing difficulties as Feel anxious

brought about by uncertainty of the future. I usually deal with this problem

by sleeping or by distracting myself to not think about it. Since it really

bothers me a lot if I'm thinking about it.

ACTIVITY #2

Answer the following questions:

1. In this module, you have learned that our reactions to the pandemic, to
any stressful event/disaster are normal and valid. How can you apply this
learning to your life especially because the pandemic is not yet over?

I can apply it by thinking that our reactions to any disaster are normal.

Since many of us panic when disasters happen most of us are left confused.
Remembering also helps us think that our reactions are normal and valid to any
disaster.

2. How can you apply your understanding of validating and normalizing

feelings in your interaction with your friends and family experiencing these
trying times? I will talk to them and tell them that these reactions are
normal and valid. I will also comfort them about what they are
experiencing. I will also teach and help them with things about feelings.

3. Say this to yourself: My feelings are valid. My reactions are normal. My

feelings and reactions are valid and normal.

Upon saying the lines, evaluate what you feel as you knew that whatever
you feel now, whether it is good or bad, it is valid and normal. How does
this idea help you in facing life’s current and future challenges?

It helps me accept that what I feel now is valid.

It also helps me think and overcome my future challenges in life.

It also helps me feel comfortable enough to solve some of my challenges

in life alone.

Module IV: SOURCES OF STRENGTHS

Activity #1: Ang Saranggola at Ako

Answer the following:

“Just like a kite, you too have what it takes to fly.”

1. On each part of the kite’s diamond, write down what you think are your
sources of strength. What makes you strong despite what you have gone
through during the past few months of pandemic?

God, Family, Dreams, friends

2. Identify the person who acts like the wind for you? Who provides you with
support? Who or what helps you soar? On the areas outside the kite, write
down the names of these people or things that act like the wind for you.

My family is who helps me soar because without my family I am nothing

and I would not be even in this world.

3. Take time to color your drawing. Below it, write a brief explanation about
your sources of strength and the people and things who act like wind to
help you fly or soar. My family is one of my sources of strength because
they are always there for me even when hard times come by they are still
there to help me.

Brief Explanation of your Drawing

I drew a simple kite that has four edges that represent my strength.

4. What have you realized about yourself after drawing the kite?

That I can’t do everything and I have to rely on others to help me.

5. How are you similar to the kite? What are your strengths as a person?
I am similar with the kite because like how the kite needs wind to soar in
the sky I also need help from others to better myself and soar.

ACTIVITY #2
Write a poem with one stanza and 4 lines (isang saknong na may 4 na linya o
taludtod ng tula) about your sources of strengths. It may be in English or Filipino.

Family is a strength that must me be preserved

God is someone we can trust on

Our dreams are what keeps us going forward

Friends is something we need to feel comfortable
