I. Objective: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

3. share their findings and insights on how language varies based on the academic
discipline

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, chart, textbooks, smartTV, laptop

III. Procedure:
A. Preliminary Activities: 
1. Review
- Give students a brief overview of different academic disciplines, such as science,
humanities, social sciences, and arts.
2. Motivation:
- Ask students to brainstorm examples of language they think might be specific to each
discipline.
3. Unlocking Difficulties:
- Present students with a list of discipline-specific terms related to different academic
disciplines.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
 Divide the class into small groups and assign each group a discipline.
 In their groups, students should match the terms with the appropriate discipline.
 Discuss the answers as a class and clarify any misconceptions.
2.Analysis
 Provide students with sample texts from various academic disciplines.
 In pairs or small groups, students should read and analyze the texts.
 Encourage students to identify discipline-specific vocabulary, sentence
structures, and any other language features that distinguish the texts.
3.Abstract
o Facilitate a class discussion on the differences observed in the texts from
different disciplines.
o Encourage students to share their findings and insights on how language varies
based on the academic discipline.
o Discuss the implications of discipline-specific language for effective
communication and understanding.
4.Application
 Ask how language varies in different academic disciplines

IV. Evaluation:
 Ask students to individually write a short paragraph comparing the language
used in two different academic disciplines.
 Students should highlight the distinctive vocabulary, sentence structures, and
other language features they identified during the text analysis.

Look for an academic text and compare the language use in the academic disciplines.
