THIS QUESTION PAPER CONSISTS OF 2 PAGES (Including this front page)

Question 1 [10 marks]
Find the most general antiderivative or indefinite integral shown below. Check your answer

by differentiation. Show all the STEPS!

Question 2 [10 marks)

Find an antiderivative of J(t) = k

t t2-1
that satisfies F(2) = O.

Question 3 [15 marks]

Consider the function J(x) = x2 - x3 and the interval [-1,0]. Find a formula for the
Riemann sum obtained by dividing the interval into n equal subintervals and using the right-
hand endpoint for each ck• Then take a limit ofthese sums as n ~ 00 to calculate the area
under the curve over [-1, 0] .

Question 4 [15 marks]

o
Using Part I of the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, find dy of y = x J sin(t3) dt.
dx x2

Question 5 [15 marks]

Using an appropriate substitution, or the Substitution Formula we discussed in class, evaluate

the following integral: J sec2(sec-1 x) dx

21.[3 x~ x2 -1

Question 6 [15 marks]

Find the total area of the shaded region shown below:

Question 7 [BONUS) [15 marks]

Use the shell method to find the volume of the solid generated by revolving the region
bounded by the curves y = 2- x2 and y = x2 , and the line x = 0 about the y-axis.
5 extra bonus points will be awarded for rendering a realistic solid generated with all the
appropriate labels.
