Activity 4
Name: Dhea Mae DL. Madis Date: 19/09/2022
Course/Year/Section: BSCE 2B Score: _________

Directions: One of the focus of intellectual revolution is to highlight the different scientific ideas
that define the present society. Have you ever ask yourself about the relationship of science and
society? With this, answer briefly the following questions by writing on spaces provided: (5 points
each)

1. As student, how do you see connection between science and society?

I started to realize the importance of science and its connection to the society when I
started High School as we starts to study research. Science isn’t just the study of the
environment nor the outer space – it’s more than that. Studying the science behind
everything played a role in our society from behaviors of a human being up to the scale of
the universe. As a student, we were deeply taught how to create a research and investigatory
projects in order to contribute to science as well as the development of the society.

2. How science shaped the society?

How I am doing this assignment is a work of science. Even in the ancient times,
science creates values and traditions that the society rely on. Furthermore, the creation of
the technology helps and provide the necessities among the society. In fact, how we live
today that we call as the “modern world” is the result of our exploration through the science.

3. Cite two (2) scientific ideas that defined our society.

Farming – this idea is now part of the society to produce enough foods for
consumption and Internet – internet is basically a new world that the society can live in.

Activity 6
Name: Dhea Mae DL. Madis Date: 19/09/2022
Course/Year/Section: BSCE 2B Score: _________

Directions: Before you begin writing, read the passage carefully and plan what you will say. Your
essay should be as well organized and as carefully written as you can make it.

Discuss your insight on the quotation made by Charles Darwin: “It is not the strongest the species
that survive nor the most intelligent but the one most responsive to change.” Write your answers
on the spaces provided.

Elephants might be strongest mammals, whilst they are imprisoned by human. Computers
and AI’s might overpower the brain of a human, whilst they are an invention of the humanity. It
is the unique characteristics of a human that made us the most dominant species here on Earth.

Within a lifetime, you won’t see a dog fighting for human rights, neither a fish seeking for
freedom nor an ant advocating feminism. What these animals do are almost the same on what their
ancestors are doing in the past; it is called their survival instincts.

Looking back in time, people are like rabid animals; eating fresh flesh and even practice
cannibalism. Hunting foods like a tiger waiting for its prey in the woods. Until we discover farming
including animal husbandry. Before, we are fighting tribe-by-tribe like an alpha-male chimpanzee
claiming for his throne until we fight for peace and democracy. Like bees working for a queen
until we cry to abolish the monarchy.

To sum it all up, we are different to other living beings in this planet because we can change
– we are able to accept these changes when we discover new knowledge and information.

Your objective is to show your understanding and appreciation of any of the different scientific
ideas cited under the intellectual revolution that you have learned in this unit. The challenge is
how you will show the positive and negative impact of your selected topic to us.

Holding a Torch
We’re on a middle of a dark tunnel
Incapable to see the beginning
Incapable to see ahead

I saw a tree
We are both breathing
I ask him “do you know where were from?”
Only a wind made a noise

I asked the fish

Then he swim away
I asked the frog, the dog
Even the bird and the lizard

Finally, a monkey who resembles me

We’re alike from foot to face
I might be a little smarter
I knew I came from a little different

There are so many theory

Rumors in the beginning of the tunnel
Too busy to ask the tree, the monkey
I forgot to move to see ahead
