Total Load - - - 820

From the load audit in the table above, it can be seen that the general load 820W (0.82KW)
To convert the Kilowatt power rating to an approximate KVA rating, we assume a suitable

power factor value.

Using a power factor value of 0.8, we have;

820
= 1025VA
0.8

Inverter products come in specific KVA ratings such as 1KVA, 1.5KVA, 2.5KVA etc.

Giving room for load expansion and also to ensure the longevity of the inverter product, the

selected inverter must not be loaded of to 50% of its manufacturer’s ratings.

1025VA / 50% = 2050VA

Hence A 2.5KVA inverter is very suitable to be used in this house, bearing in mind that the

2.5KVA inverter can conveniently handle this load without being stressed.
