Please be advised that the Town has received all approvals for the construction of the Tom Taylor
Trail Davis Drive Underpass. In an effort to expand Newmarket’s trail system and provide better
connectivity, the Town will construct a new section of the Tom Taylor Trail along the east side of
the Holland River from the south side of the Youth Centre to the existing pedestrian bridge that
crosses over the Holland River to the Tannery Mall just North of Davis Drive.
The project will consist of two new bridges and foundations, three-meter-wide asphalt trail,
pedestrian lighting, site furniture, plantings, retaining walls, concrete paving and seat walls.
Construction is scheduled to start as early as Monday, May 23, 2016 subject to weather and site
conditions. Project completion is estimated for late fall 2016.
The existing trail north of Davis Drive will remain open along with the pedestrian bridge that
crosses over to the Tannery Mall. The Mabel Davis Conservation Area will be closed during the
entire construction period and the north side of Davis Drive will be accessible by trail on the west
side of the Holland River.
Should you have any further questions and/or concerns regarding this project, please contact
Mike Ashworth at the Town of Newmarket at 905-895-5193.
Sincerely;
