Shiva’s Revival

• After the death of his Sati, Shiva got highly furious that he opened
his third eye and caused destruction.

• Later, in remorse he came to Dandeshwar for penance.

• The wives of the Saptarishis were enchanted by the beauty of

Lord Shiva and were found in unconscious condition after 6 days

• The Saptrishis suspected Shiva of having been unscrupulous and

cursed him to death in a supine form, at Dandeshwar.

• In order to revive Shiva of his death, all the god and goddess
gathered at the Dandeshwar temple and performed the Maha
Mrityunjaya Pooja.

• That’s why, many small temples of different gods and goddess

are found in the complex of Jageshwar.
