The aim is to show the “whole” picture of the design process and provide

What is engineering design, What is total design, Importance of good
design practice, Introduction to design process and systematic design

Design models
Discuss on some selected design models such as model by J.C. Jones,
Model by Watts, Model by French, Model by Paul &Beitz, Model by
BS7000, Design Function Deployment model, etc.

Design methods for establishing customer requirements


Specifying the product, Design tools such as Affinity Diagram, Tree
diagram, Activity analysis, Matrix diagram, Function analysis, QFD, etc.
Module Outline
Design methods for conceptual design & innovation
What is conceptual design, and what is innovation, Different design
techniques such as ideation, Brainstorming, Morphological analysis,
decision matrix, DFD, Axiomatic Design, Design for Assembly(DFA),
Design for Manufacture(DFM), etc.

Embodiment Design and Detail Design


Introduction to Embodiment Design, Introduction to Detail Design,
Modelling and Simulation.
