Basically it is on the word that Japanese adopted its industrial standard. Japan Industrial standard are
the standards used for industrial activities in Japan, coordinated by the Japanese Industrial Standards
Committee
In the Meiji era, private enterprises were responsible for making standards, although the Japanese
government too had standards and specification documents for procurement purposes for certain
articles, such as munitions. These were summarized to form an official standard, the Japanese
Engineering Standard, in 1921. During World War II, simplified standards were established to increase
matériel output.
Japan International Standard related to Philippine Electrical Code because they are the standards used
for industrial activities and used to educate the public regarding the standardization and unification of
industrial standards
The objective of the Japanese Standards Association - JSA - is "to educate the public regarding the
standardization and unification of industrial standards, and thereby to contribute to the improvement of
technology and the enhancement of production efficiency". Through JIS electrical system can greatly use
in standard and correct way knowing its standardization means knowing their types/scales,
quality/performance and safety. Japan advocates for the establishment of international standards of the
management of power network assets. Such standards are designed to help operators optimize the
management of their assets and ensure the reliability of power networks.
The Industrial Standardization Law was enacted in 1949, which forms the legal foundation for the
present Japanese Industrial Standards.
6. How often does JIS change?
JIS product certification mark was changed; since October 1, 2005, the new JIS mark has been used upon
re-certification. Use of the old mark was allowed during a three-year transition period ending on
September 30, 2008
Some example that we need to use JIS is in terms of global demand for electric power that continues to
grow. In developed countries, there is a great variation in how operators approach the management of
assets for power networks, such as aging electrical equipment. Japan advocates for the establishment of
international standards of the management of power network assets. Such standards are designed to
help operators optimize the management of their assets and ensure the reliability of power networks.
