ed Dapa West District Schools
Press Conference last March 8,
2023 and was proclaimed as
First- Runner-Up in the over-all
ranking.

theme “ Reinventing the dynam-
ics of Campus Journalism in the
Post- pandemic Education,”
three schools from secondary
schools namely Dapa National
High School, Siargao National
Science High School and Siargao

sequences of unsafe sex? There had been so
many cases over the years for you to not notice
this problem. How could you forsake your lives,
your family, your education, and your future for
a modicum of pleasure? Stop being selfish for
once and think about the greater good.”

Cases of early pregnancies have failed to cease

over the years simply because people are still
lethargic over it. Somehow, it has been deemed
“normal” or “inescapable” in our society that
people no longer seem to care about it. We
have lowkey given up on the issue that we are
willingly neglecting the future of our children
today.
Having sex is part of human nature. However,
the biggest problem in this issue is the unwant-
ed pregnancies that usually occur since many
refuses to consider contraception in the process
of lovemaking. These young adults engage into
these activities out of lust, purely considering
their bodily desires, and completely ignoring
the possible outcomes. We have failed to edu-
cate and monitor our children, letting them fall
victim into their unguarded curiosities subse-
quently leading to wrong decisions.
These unwanted pregnancies wouldn’t have
happened if only everyone knew how to be re-
sponsible But what can we do? We couldn’t
possibly force them not to do it. They are at the
stage of life where their hormones are contrib-
uting factors to their decisions. We can’t stop
them, but we can educate them. In order to do
that however, we must also stop making this is-
sue taboo. We should train ourselves to accept
and be comfortable talking about it to our chil-
dren. We should make them understand the sen-
sitivity of this problem and teach them how to
deal with sex in a preventive manner.
