Dynamics
Capacity:Analyzes problematic situations
related to the population dynamics of
Paraguay.
Analyze the following situation

Comparing the censuses that have taken place in the latest years, it can
be noticed that the Paraguayan population has increased. The
migration has notably risen and the birthrate is still on the increase.
The increment or reduction of the population is not only attributable to
humans, but also living organisms like animals or plants.
Answer
1. Which factors influence population changes?
2. Why does migration take place in certain populations?
Remember
Population:
It’s a group of individuals that
all belong to the same species
and inhabit a given area.
Some important
terms

Biocenosis: is an interspecific
grouping of populations.

Abundance: An abundant species

would typically have a lot of
individuals in the plot.
Diversity: number of species
present (species richness) and their
abundance (species evenness) in
an area or in a community.
Dominance: A dominant species
dominates the other species, so
typically covers more than 50%
(up to 100%) of the plot.
Size and growth of a population
Density
is the number of individuals per unit of land area.

It is crucial to know about the dimension of the inhabited area. There

are three factors that influence changes that can affect the the size of a
population and to which extent birth rate (births), mortality and
migration (immigration and emigration). A population depends on the
births and deahs.
The following is a simple equation to find the population size:

Birth rate: is the ratio between the number of live-born births in the
year and the average total population of that year.
Mortality rate: is the number of deaths due to a disease divided by the
total population.
Immigration rate: an animal establishes a home in a habitat because
it has resources it can utilize or because the habitat is ideal for them.
Emigration rate: an animal leaves its home because the habitat is no
longer ideal for them and they need to find a more suitable
environment.
