Before you leave home please remember the following to ensure a more enjoyable journey:
• Letter of invitation: print and carry it at all times while traveling.
• Travel itinerary, passport/visa, address of hotel, cash/credit cards.
• Make a copy of your passport ID page and other travel documents; store them separately from your wallet
and passport. A copy of your passport ID page will enable you to obtain a replacement in case the original
is lost or stolen. This can be a digital image scan or hard copy.
• Obtain the number of your embassy or consulate. Store it in your phone. Most embassies and consulates
will be available for help in emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Familiarize yourself with customs and import restrictions. You are not permitted to travel in the U.S. with a
firearm or another weapon.
• For travel updates and conditions, follow the U.S. State Department on Twitter or Facebook @TravelGov.

You will be provided with medical insurance in case of an emergency during the week of the
event. This medical insurance will not cover additional or personal days during your stay in the

The campus cafeteria, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is open from 7 AM to 9 PM every day.
ST A R B U C K S
There are two cafes on campus. They accept cash, credit cards and gift cards.
FOOD TRUCKS
There are many food trucks that come to campus for lunch each day. They take credit cards and cash. You
can find a list of food trucks on campus each day.
VENDING MACHINES
There are also vending machines located across campus with drinks and snacks. They take cash (and coins)
and many of them even take credit cards.

• You are at St. Jude to attend a training seminar only.
• Visas: follow all visa rules. If you do not follow these rules, St. Jude staff might have to END your visit and
report you to US Citizenship and Immigration Services.
• DO NOT take photos, videos or any recordings of patients, families, or patient information (and please ask
any staff before you take their photo).
• All patient information is confidential (includes information you may hear or see while attending a tour).
• If you have family or friends traveling with you, please know they are not allowed on the St. Jude campus
during your visit. Access to St. Jude is for you only.

• Conduct should be in accordance with good professional and ethical standards at all times.
• If you violate policy or professional standards, endanger the health or well-being of staff, patients or
visitors, interfere with the orderly and efficient operation of the facility, breach confidentiality or engage in
any other activity, which St. Jude deems inappropriate and/or illegal, you will be subject to corrective action,
up to and including being discharged from St. Jude campus.
DRESS CODE
• Neat, clean, appropriate, and professional
• Safe and comfortable shoes
• Nothing too tight or too short
• No offensive words or pictures
• No heavy perfume, cologne or fragrance
GENERAL
• No smoking on campus (designated outside smoking areas are available)
• No eating in lab or clinical areas
• No photographs, videos or voice recording of patients, patient information, procedures or patient areas
• Do not come to campus if you are sick (refer to the Infection Control Guidelines for Hospital Visitors)
T OURS
Our patients can be more vulnerable to infection and visitors who are sick or who have been exposed to
contagious illnesses must reschedule their tour.
EMERGENCY WARNINGS
• Fire alarm: leave the building by using the correct stairs (not elevator)
• Announcements: in Patient Care areas
- Dr. Red: fire or fire drill, ask for instructions
- Dr. Red Major: leave the building
- Dr. Green: all clear
- Dr. Child: search for missing child
• Severe Weather: be aware of the weather (tornadoes, severe thunderstorms)
- Tornadoes: safest place is in the basement or lowest floor of a building, in a room with no windows
(e.g. closet or bathroom)
- Tornado siren: tested once a week, usually Wednesday afternoons

INFECTION CONTROL GUIDELINES
T o p r o t e c t t h e h e a l t h a n d s a f e t y of p a t i e n t s , v i s i t o r s a r e a s k e d
to f o l l o w t h e s e g u i d e l i n e s :
• Visitors must be 16 years of age or older to visit the hospital.
• Visitors of all ages may visit the Danny Thomas/ALSAC Pavilion located on the hospital campus if
open. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
• Because many patients are vulnerable to infections as a result of treatment, visitors who are sick or who
have been exposed to contagious illnesses must postpone and reschedule their visit. Visitors experiencing
any of the following signs or symptoms must plan to visit at a later date:
• Temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater in the last 48 hours
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• “Pink eye”
• Rash suggestive of chickenpox, shingles, measles or other viral illness
• Cold, flu, or respiratory infection (runny nose, congestion, sore throat, or cough)
• A draining wound
• A rash after recently receiving the chickenpox vaccine or
• Have received the oral polio or smallpox vaccine within the previous four weeks
