OH, MY RESPI!!!
Note: Copy the in your A4 the # parts.

Objective:

Explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work together to transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to and from
the different parts of the body (S9LT-la-b-26).

# Part A. Oh My Lungs!
Objective: Explain the breathing mechanism in humans and describe how the movement of the diaphragm helps the air go in and
out of the lungs.
Materials and Illustration:

NOTE:

Make your own lung

model and follow the
procedure and
answer the questions
during the
experimentation.

Lung Model = 25 pts.

Procedure and Questions:

Instruction: Write the questions and answers in your A4.

provided.
2. Get the match box and stick to your teacher. Use the match and create a smoke out of it. Try to re-enact the process of
breathing of the smoke by pulling the masking tape in a downward and upward motion. Do the process of breathing after
2 minutes.
3. What happens to the smoke after inhalation? What happens to the smoke after exhalation?
4. Check the straw of the lung model, what happens to the color of the straw outside and inside the lung model?
5. Check the cotton of the lung model. Are there any discoloration?
6. What does each part in the illustration represents in relation to the human respiratory system? Use the table below for
your answer.
