I – Course No. : IT 101


II – Course Title : IT Fundamentals
III – Course Description : The subject introduces students to the fundamental concepts in information
technology and mathematical reasoning that provide the technical foundation
for state-of the –art computer application: word processing, spreadsheet,
graphics, networks and networking, and internet and world wide web.

IV – Course Objectives: At the end of the semester, the students are expected to:

1. understand the foundation and historical significance of information technology, including


influential leaders in the development of computers.
2. Understand how a computer system operates including the integration of its hardware, software and
peripheral Devices
3. Understand the logical sequences of computer programs, using multiple platforms to demonstrate the
process
4. Introduce elementary mathematical and digital concepts for computer programming
5. Understand a network infrastructure, including communication protocols and internet/ intranet
architecture
6. Recognize and use appropriate application software, specially demonstrating skills in document
production, spreadsheet creation, and presentation development
7. State a research topic, determine information requirements, and then locate and retrieve that
information from available electronic resources
8. Understand how to create a web page and recognize different web browser
9. Understand the ethical responsibilities and legal issues surrounding information technology, its
impact, and future implications
10. Discuss business application through case studies
