The author drove to Midland to pick up their first car, towing it home on a car dolly with only the front wheels on the trailer. During the tow home in a snowstorm, they blew a tire on the trailer and continued driving, which caused the trailer wheel bearing to fail. The tire and rim fell off, allowing the car to break free from the trailer and crash into a front yard, narrowly missing a tree. Though the car was drivable, they finished the trip with it in the back of their truck and later rented a flatbed trailer to transport another vehicle, avoiding a repeat of the incident.

I'm going to write about the event of bringing home my first car.
I drove up to midland to get my
first car and I was towing it home with a car dolly so only the 2 front wheels were up on the trailer. She was strapped on there pretty good but not good enough. We were only 20 minutes away from home and then we blew a tire. It was in the middle of a snow storm at 11pm so we couldn't get a new tire so we kept moving. Well the wheel bearing on the trailer didn't like that. We kept driving, taking it low and slow and then all the sudden the wheel bearing on the trailer gave out. The whole rim and tire fell off the trailer and next thing I know my car was driving beside me. It then went off about a 4 foot cliff into someone's front yard and landed 2 feet away from a tree. I was pretty lucky and was able to drive it right out of the ditch. The jetta is a straight unit and is still a ripper to this day. I've had some minor issues with the car but none related to the crash. We ended up towing it home and put the trailer in the back of the truck. I went and bought another car for parts and we learned our lesson and ended up renting a flatbed trailer to bring the second one home. We didn't want another incident like that. The trailer is also still broken to this day as i haven't had a chance to fix it.
