Individual Activity: Supply the missing information inside the table to complete the illustration
below between the comparison of Quantitative and Qualitative Research.

Quantitative Research

Definitions: Its used to quantify the problem by way of generating numerical data or data that
can be transformed into useable statistics. It is used to quantify attitudes, opinions, behavior, and
the other defined variables and generalize results from a larger sample population. It uses
measurable data to formulate facts and uncover patterns in research. The quantitative data
collection methods are much more structured than qualitative data collective methods.

Goals: It aims to help scientists, marketers, and researchers better understand society and people.
It involves the exploration or examination of events or occurrences that affect individuals.

Characteristics:
- Contain Measurable Variables
- Use Standardized Research Instruments
- Assume a Normal Population Distribution
- Present Data in Tables, Graphs, or Figures
- Use Repeatable Method
- Can Predict Outcomes
- Use Measuring Devices
Qualitative Research

Definition: Research involves collecting and analyzing non-numerical data (text, video, or
audio) to understand concepts, opinions, or experiences. It can be used to gather in-depth insights
into a problem or generate new ideas for research. Qualitative research is based on the
disciplines of social sciences like psychology, sociology, and anthropology. The
interviewer/researcher also tries to understand their motivation and feelings. Understanding how
your audience makes decisions can help derive conclusions in market research.

Goals: The focus is on language, behaviors, and social structures. Qualitative researchers want to
present personal experiences and produce narrative stories that use natural language to provide
meaningful answers to their research questions. Qualitative research focuses on descriptions,
opinions, and experiences rather than numbers. Standard data collection techniques include
interviews, diaries, focus groups, documents, artifacts, and direct observations.

Characteristics:
- Emphasis on context
- In-depth analysis
- Subjectivity
- Flexibility
- Interpretive and exploratory
- Holistic
- Inductive
