WRITING TASK 1

1, The pie charts compare what male and female teenagers from Peru prefer to do in their free
time.
The two pie charts below showed the percentages of 5 activities which male and female
teenagers from Peru enjoyed to do in their free time. In common, both teenagers were interested
in using the Internet and meeting friends.
From the pie chart, it was obivious that the most popular activities which boys were keen on was
using the Internet with 30% while girls spent most time on meeting friends with 35%. Boys liked
meeting friends 15% fewer than girls but enjoyed using the Internet 5% more than girls. Boys
and girls also liked watching TV with 15% and 20% respectively.
The least popular activities were reading for boys and playing sport for girls. The biggest
difference was playing sport: 20% fewer girls prefered playing sport than boys. Boys were fond
of playing sport with 25% but girls just voted the lowest rate for playing sport only 5%. It is easy
to realized that reading was not very common with either boys or girls . Only 10% of the boys
preferred to read and 5% more for girls.
2, The diagram shows the percentage of people who own the devices from 2010 to 2025
The percentage of users owning 4 types of the gadgets from 2010 to 2025 is illustrated by the
line chart below. It is clear that while the proportion of people using the smartphone and
smartwatch increased, the opposite is true for laptop and tablet during the period. It is also
notable that smartphone is the device most people own.
In 2010, the percentage of people own smartphone was nearly 40%, which was significant higher
than the figure for smartwatch, at only 0%. Over the following 10 years, the percentage of users
owning smartphone substantially rised from 40% to 70% and followed by a moderately increase
to reach a peak of about 87% in 2025. By contrast, despite some minor fluctuations around 0% to
5% during the first 5 years, the firgure for smartwatch users then sharply grow to 40% in the
final year.
Looking at the other gadgets, laptop was the most popular in 2010 with 60% of people choosing
this, compare to 20% using tablet. Over the next five years, there was an dramatically upward
trend for using tablet about 30% and increased from 40% to 50% between 2015 and 2020.
However, the percentage of people owning tablet droped to just over 55%. By contrast, the figure
of owning laptop experienced a rapid decrease and ending up at roughly 55% at the end of the
period.
