• The God of our
father/s - This is the most
common expression used to
refer to God in Genesis (cf
Gen 26, 24; 31, 53; 46, 1-3;
49, 25). It is taken up again
in Ex 3, 6. He was the type
of God not attached to any
sanctuary, who revealed
himself to the ancestors of a
group, and who
accompanied and protected
the group that was faithful
to him.
