[MUSIC] Hello everyone, welcome to the Learn to

speak Korean 1 class by Yonsei University. My name is Sang Mee Han, and I'm a
professor at
the Korean Language Institute, a part of the Institute of Language Research and
Education at Yonsei University. I am very pleased to meet
all of you here today. The Korean Language Institute was
established in 1959 at Yonsei University in Seoul Korea as the first institution to
provide intensive Korean language courses. So far we have taught Korean language
and
culture to more than 130,000 international
students from over 140 countries. The main contents of this course
are designed according to the textbooks. Yonsei Korean in three weeks 1. Which is
developed by
the Korean Language Institute and published by the Yonsei University press. [MUSIC]
This course is for beginner students, who are familiar with
the Korean alphabet [FOREIGN]. So, I recommend that you study first step of
Korean before you take this course. If you think that this course is
a little bit difficult for you. Through this course, Learn to Speak Korean
1, students will learn the skills essential for daily interactions
with Koreans while living in Korea. The main lecture topics include essential
expressions used in every day life, such as when introducing friends, describing
ones home town and make suggestions. Key lifestyle topics including ordering
food, introducing places to shop, making purchases and more, will also
be studied throughout this course. [MUSIC] The lectures consist of six modules.
[MUSIC] Each module is composed of five units. Each unit has vocabulary grammar and
expressions, conversation practice, video clips showing students real
life conversations in Korean, quizzes, a work book and vocabulary lists. In order
to assist the student's
independent study, Korean learning materials such
as lecture notes, workbooks, and vocabulary lists detailing each
days lectures are also provided. The vocabulary lists
are accompanied by English, Chinese and Japanese translations. The lectures will
provide a rewarding and
pleasant learning experience where you will study Korean with
many other international students. I hope that you enjoy all the program
has to offer over the next six weeks. [MUSIC] After studying in this program,
you will be able to have a real Korean conversation with your newly acquired
