Background
Dasig is a broad organization of individuals who
have the common interest of advancing the
rights and welfare of the people. It
acknowledges the need for a democratic,
nationalist and pro-people government that
recognizes the active participation of groups
and individuals in all levels. It recognizes the
current system of the government that fails to
address the needs and demands of the people,
as regimes come and go.
Members of the organization consistently and
regularly undergo training and educational
discussions to become knowledgeable of the
current situation of the people and identify their
needs and demands. The organization also
conducts community integration for members
to first-handedly see and experience the wider
population’s situation.
Dasig joins for the advancement of the call for
the protection of rights and freedom, ensuring
that each and every Filipino’s human rights are
upheld. It rejects any form of human rights
violations, actively campaigning for justice for
all the victims of HRVs.
Dasig recognizes the issues of various
sectors in the country, including:
The youth and students’ call for a
nationalist, scientific, and mass-
oriented education and culture.
The workers’ demand for wage
increase, regularization, and right
to unionize.
The peasant sector’s call
genuine agrarian reform.
The plight of the urban poor for
decent housing and livelihood.
The women’s call to end VAWC,
end discrimination, and gender
equality
The call of our country’s indigenous
peoples and minorities for their
rights to self-determination.
