TASK 5. The SS work in pairs. Their task is to answer the following questions (reading the sentences from the

(10 min) Post-reading. After each post, do retelling using active vocabulary from the white-board. Answer
questions from exercise 2. Pay attention to some words that might be new for them: in spite of, cope with, to
seem.

1. (5 min) Sentences for translation with new vocabulary.

2. (7 min) Exercise 3 lead-in: What extreme weather conditions do you know? What are the extremes
that we might sometimes have in our country? Write down the words which students offer. Then move to
exercise 3. Write down new vocabulary on the white-board: blizzard, drought, flood, hailstorm, heat wave,
hurricane, lightning, monsoon, thunder, typhoon.

3. (5 min) Move to exercise 4. Lead-in: What do you do when you’re very cold or scared? Right, shiver.
And if you got under a heavy rain, what happens to you? Etc. Do the matching and write down new
words: shiver, get soaked, humid, damp, pouring, slippery, get sunburned.
