Many words begin with consonants. Sometimes consonants are grouped together at the
beginning of a word. Listen to your teacher read the words below:

Words also end in consonants. Sometimes words end in 2 consonants. Listen to your
teacher read the words below:

These are examples of consonant blends. A consonant blend is when two or more
consonants are blended together, but each sound may be heard in the blend.  The most
common beginning consonant blends include: bl, br, cl, cr, dr, fr, tr, fl, gl, gr, pl, pr, sl,
sm, sp and st.  Blends can also occur at the end of words as in the word “last”. 

These words begin and end with consonant blends. Read them.

Everything has a name. People, places, animals, objects all have names.

Words that name are called nouns.

Below is a list of nouns.

Nouns that name a specific person, place, animal, or object are called proper nouns.

Nouns that are common names for person, place, animal, or object are called common
