Motivation Letter

My name is Muhammad Nouman a I have recently completed my Master of Philosophy in

Solid State Physics from Punjab University Lahore, Pakistan. I am currently working as a
research assistant in national space agency of Pakistan (SUPARCO).
I started my academic career studying Physics Solid State Physics as my majors at the
graduation level, in which we focused on the fundamental aspects of physics. Back then, I chose
this field because I had a small insight into how much fundamental physics can affect the flow of
scientific research and innovation for the better. Now, I genuinely believe that this statement
could not have been truer. Thanks to this I was received the rudiment and became acquainted
with the basic aspects of various thematic of physics including, crystallography, computational
physics, quantum physics, statistical physics, condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular
physics, solid state physics, electromagnetism, etc.
Meanwhile, I remained part of blood denotation NGO named as AL SUNDAS Foundation
and denoted blood for 08 times in previous 6 years. I enjoyed a lot of social experiences and have
learned a lot. As I started my job in SUPARCO in 2011 as a technical support boy in regard of my
second position in technical board of intermediate exam. In last six years I worked eight hours in
SUPARCO and completed my Bs Honors Physics with 3.68 CGPA out of 4.0 CGPA, while
secured 3.94 in my Mphil Solid State Physics with one submitted publication of my work. In
previous journey of eight to ten years I was awarded with different awards too as I put my whole
efforts and directed me to learn each and every possible qualification for me. After completion of
by BS honors I was promoted and was engaged in a space grade material testing lab. This
encouraged me to continue with Mphil is solid state physics.

I pursued my master's program "Solid State Physics" at the faculty" Centre of Excellence
in Solid State Physics, University of the Punjab ", where we have dived into more specialized
fields, to name a few, Lattice dynamics, x-ray diffraction, magnetism in condensed matter,
laboratory work, defects in solids, optical properties of solids, semiconductor theory, and thin film
technology. Furthermore, we have particularly focused on the theoretical aspects of interaction
between particles and matter and the applications of this in different research fields, specifically

spectroscopic characterization techniques and microscopic instruments as well as deposition
methods (PVD, CVD). All that has given me the unique opportunity to build strong understanding
of wide variety of elaboration and synthesis.
My thesis work is based on thin film solar cells (applications in energy and environmental
technologies) with the thesis title “Chemically Processed CdTe Thin Films for Potential
Application in Solar Cells - Effect of Cu Doping” and same work is already submitted for
publication in ceramics international journal. This experimental work gave me a thorough
understanding of an extremely essential aspect of R&D: characterization and failure analysis, that
goes from the basic knowledge of the instrument's setup, working principal, the sample preparation
protocols, all the way to the interpretation of analysis and circumventing any artifacts or distortion
that can originate from either the inherent aspects of interaction between particles and matter or
can be due to some malfunctioning in the instrument itself. It was an amazing opportunity for me
to work in very favorable conditions, including a cleanroom environment electrodeposition of
ZnTe thin films. Additionally, analysis was carried out using variety of techniques, namely, SEM,
XRD, TEM, XPS, UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Photoluminescence during the characterization
of ZnTe thin films.
I am very confident that my educational and practical background constitutes an ideal basis
for this position. My Bachelor studies too include wide range of subjects, which have introduced
understanding of matter e.g. Electronics, Electromagnetism, Heat and Thermodynamics, Atomic
and Molecular Physics, Solid-State Physics, and Physical Chemistry. I do have programming
experience as I have studied the courses of C++ and Computational Physics in my Bachelor studies
and currently learning Python as well. I have achieved essential expertise to plan, organize and
perform experiments, correctly analyzing the scientific data. I also developed an ability to
represent results in intelligible form and successfully performed in my viva voice examination and
secured 95/100 marks in it. I feel comfortable dealing out numerous challenging things at one time.
I love to do challengeable tasks and to solve difficult problems. I like to effort in team and
own approachable attitude towards colleagues and mentors to learn from them. I constantly try to
deal with challenging organizational jobs since it supports me to train communicational skills and
better understand people around. Being continuously attentive in learning, I have a resilient
aspiration for professional development. I am extremely striving to pursue experimental and
theoretical based research on solar cells in an active team. My professional goal is to be a foremost

lecturer, researcher and consultant in the field of solid state physics with particular interest in solar
cells.
I appreciate your consideration. With your assistance, I can continue to learn more about
this opportunity and share how I might be a good fit for your team.

Sincerely,
Muhammad Nouman
