Ⅰ、General

This type pump is use d for de livery clea n wat er a nd liq ui d which physical

and chemica l pr oper ty is simil ar to water .The te mper atur e o f th e d eliver ed

medi um shal l n ot excee d 8 0 ℃.The pu mp is suita ble for the use o f g ener al

heat ing system circul ati on ,pla nt ,mi ne,city water supp ly and etc .It also

can be used for l arg e scale hydr au lic en gi neer in g ,a gricult ura l irri gat io n

and drai n o ff Grin d fl oo dwat er .

Ⅱ、Construction

The pump is single stage ,doubl e suction ,axial- split ,horizont al


centrifu gal pump .The suction and discharge of pump all located below the
centerli ne of the shaft and perpe ndicu lar to axis .The join t face of pump
casing and cover locate on the level of the centerli ne ,and it seated with
two layers of moul ded paper .Impell er locate the midd le position of pump
shaft .Bearing used for supportin g two ends is rollin g beari ng .Packing
seal is used for shaft seal of pump .
Water delivered by pump flow into pump casing from suction
pipe ,and then divided in two parts ,goes into stations at both ends of
impe ll er throu gh absorb volute ,and then info compass chamber after
obtaine d ener gy by blade rotatio n .In compass chamb er ,the velocity
energy of water can convert into pressure energy then drain off from
discharge pipe .

2.1 Pump body

Pump body consists of two parts,i.e. pump casing and cover.Pump casing and
cover form a working chamber of pump.The joint face of pump casing and cover locate on

the axis,so that east to dismount and check parts in pump without removing inlet and
outlet pipe and prime motor.The overhaul is very easy.The suction and discharge
nozzles locate below the axis,and cast with pump casing in a integrate,its centerline is
perpendicular to axis.There are thread holes for mounting vacuum gage and pressure
gage on the flange at suction and discharge nozzles.There is a thread hole on the highest
place of cover .Fill liquid from this hole and drain off air in pump before starting.There is
also drain off hole at the lowest position of nozzles,it is used for drain off the liquid in
pump after pump stopping.Pump casing is designed according to the relative theory of
hydrokinetics.Its main function is that convert the liquid with kinetic energy flowed out of
the impeller in high –speed running into pressure energy.

2.2 Impeller

Impeller is double suction,the stream-line design of hydrokinetics is used during


designing.It is of sufficient intensity and rigidity as rotating part.Because impel ler form
is symmetric and force borne on both ends is qual l ,in theory ,the axial
force caused by rotor is mutua l bal ance .Vibrati on shall never occur during
opera tio n .In addit ion ,there is no cast defect ,such as scab ,sand hole
and etc .on impel ler ,and the throu gh- flow surface should be polishe d to a
certain degree .The service life and hydraulic efficiency of pump is
guara nte ed .

2.3 Shaft and shaft sleeve

Impe ller install at the middl e of shaft and fix with flat key and shaft
sleeve .Impell er is fixed by shaft sleeve .Shaft install agai nst journ al
beari ng at both ends and driven by motor ,pump and motor is connected
with coupli ng .In order to improve strength and service life of shaft ,the
mater ials ,structure ,heat treat men t ,detecti on of shaft should be mainly
considere d .

2.4 Seal ring of pump casing

Seal ring should be fixed on pump casing .Two seal ring on the left and
right of pump casing may be replaced .In order to ensure the mini mu m
leakag e from high to low pressure ,and at the same time make the rotor in

normal operati ng ,a certain clearance betwe en seal rings of impe ller and
pump casing must be guarant ee d ,for the value see assemb ly drawing with
rando m additi on .

2.5 Packing seal

Packing seal is used for pump seal .Littl e water with high pressure
form discharge volute directly flow in to packing ring throu gh hydraulic seal
pipe and act as hydraulic seal .

2.6 Bearing

Rollin g bearings lubricate d with glycerin is used on the both ends of


pump .At the same time ,because the shape of pump body is full
symmetric ,in theory ,there is no axial force on feed pump ,but ,because
of errors of manuf acture and install ati on ,axial force may occur ,thrust
bearin g which borne axial thrust force is used .This structure is easy to
maint ena nce and operat e smoothly .

2.7 Coupling

Coupl ing is used to connect motor with pump shaft .Flexible coupling
is used .

Ⅲ、Operation of pump

3.1 preparation before operation

Check each item below befor e starting:


3.1.1 Assembl e and connect all equip me nt ,instrument pipe and
wire ,make sure all bolts are fully tight en ed .
3.1.2 Rotate pump with han d .Check if it rotat es smoothly ,and check
if motor is aligne d with pump .
3.1.3 Make sure that suction valve locate at correct positi on and fully
open it .
3.1.4 Make sure that drain off valve locate at correct positio n and fully

close it .
3.1.5 Spot by spot starting(start and imme di ate ly stop
motor) ,observe rotation directio n of shaft ,if it is not correct ,adjust
termi nals of any two leads in three phase motor .

3.2 Starting

Make sure to meet the foll owin g requir ement before starting :
3.2.1 Fully fill water in pump casing and pipe ,rotate shaft to drain off
air in pump .
3.2.2 Discharge valve locate at the require d positio n .
3.2.3 Suction valve locate at the requir ed position .
3.2.4 Check the on/off position of valve .

3.3 Operation

3.3.1 Switch on power supply .


3.3.2 After starting ,discharge valve fully closed should not exceed
3min utes ,otherwise temper atur e is over high and pump may be damag ed .
3.3.3 Operatio n proced ure
3.3.3 .1 Monitor in g of pressure ,capacity and current
Moni tor pressure gage ,flow meter and ammeter and check if there is
obvious swing ,if any ,it is possible to absorb air or dust adher e to
impe ll er .
3.3.3 .2 Noise mon itor
When air or dust go into suction pipe ,abnormal acoustics shall
occur,someti mes with vibratio n .
3.3.3 .3 Vibratio n of monit or
Check pump and motor if there is abn orma l vibrati on .
3.3.3 .4 Inspection bearing
Check beari ng temper atur e if it is in normal conditio n .
All conditi ons ment ion ed above are up to the standard ,it may be put
into operati on .

3.4.Stop pump

3.4.1 Gradual ly close the discharge valve to the mini mu m


capacity ,pay atten tio n to never close suction valve at this time ,in order
to prevent from dry runnin g and dama ge pump unit .
3.4.2 Stop motor .
3.4.3 close discharge valve of pump .
3.4.4 Shut off suction valve when the pump stop runni ng .

3.5 Cautions

3.5.1 If the pump is not used for lon g –term ,the plug at the bottom of
the pump should be screwed off ,in order to drain off the water in pump .
3.5.2 Never let the water flow into beari ng parts ,other wise will
cause bearin g housin g to rust .
3.5.3 If water in pump is not drained off,start pump approximately once a week as
far as possible.

Ⅳ、Maintenance of pump

4.1. Daily maintenance

4.1.1 In order to make the pump to runnin g in norma l conditi on ,and


prolo ng its service life ,each part of pump should be inspected
perio dical ly ,inspecting result should be recorde d .

4.2 Maintenance of quick-wear part

4.2.1S ea l ring
When there is abrasio n on seal ring of pump casing ,water leakage is
increased ,and pump efficiency will fall down .So that when the clearance
betwee n pump casing and impell er seal ring is oversize ,replace seal ring
according to the specific conditi on .

4.3 Maintenance of bearing

4.3.1 Monit or the oil level in bearin g box and bear ing temper atur e at
any time ,pay attenti on to replace the glycerin in oil tank after pump unit
runni ng about two mont hs .
4.3.2N ever let dust or water go into the beari ng box ,and avoid to
effect beari ng lubricati on .
4.3.3 when beari ng vibration and abn ormal noise occur ,disassemb ly
and inspect in it time .The dama ged beari ng should be replace d in time .

Ⅴ、Disassembly and reassembly

5.1 Cautions during assembling

5.1.1 Carefully read the relative informati on before pump


disassembli ng in order to keep the relative informati on and avoid to make
unnecessary mistake and result extrane ous loss .
5.1.2 Don’t lay the parts disassembl ed on groun d ,may put them on
paper or on cloth ,also lay them on cross-tie .
5.1.3 During pump disassembl in g and trouble shootin g ,wipe out the
water on parts and pain t antir ust oil on them before assembl in g .
5.1.4 Wipe out the contact and fit surface of parts and paint oil on
them before assemb lin g .
5.1.5 Each fit surface of pump with very high accuracy ,and avoid
sharpen er scratch .
5.1.6 After pump operat ion ,rustiness may occur on some
place ,threa d and hydraulic tools may be used to disassembl e pump ,but
forces born e on parts should be uniform ,the borne force should not be
oversize.
5.1.7 During disassembl in g ,knock tools such as brass bar and lead
hammer should be used .
5.1.8 Especially take care to disassemble bearin g ,balls in beari ng
can not bear force .

5.2. Steps of disassembly

5.2.1 Close suction and discharge valves .


5.2.2 Remove two nuts and stud pin which connecting couplin g .
5.2.3 Remove fasten bolts connecti ng bearin g housin g and pump
casing .
5.2.4 Remove plugs and pipes on pump casing and
cover,then ,remove nuts that fix pump casing and cover and prevent
them ,lift the cover and put it on the clean ed field ,never touch its mai n
face and other impel ler parts .
5.2.5 Lift off the rotor and bearin g housing at both ends from pump
casing ,and put them on predet ermine d field for further disassembly .
5.2.6 Remove small parts
5.2.6 .1 Remove couplin g at shaft end .
5.2.6 .2 Remove bearin g assembli es .
5.2.6 .3 Remove packing seal 。
5.2.6 .4 After removing wear ring and shaft sleeve ,remove impe ller .

5.3. Assembly of pump

5.3.1 All used O-ring and washers must be replace d .


5.3.2 Accordin g to the reverse order of disassemb ly in turn install
impe ll er ,shaft sleeve ,seal ring ,packing ring ,retai nin g
ring ,defl ector ,beari ng ,locking nut ,bearin g housin g ,coupli ng at pump
end on shaft .
5.3.3 Never tight en shaft sleeve and other adj usting screws at this
time .
5.3.4 Heatin g the beari ng to about 250 ℃ and immedi ate ly shrink it on
a certain positio n of shaft ,then perfor m next working procedur e after
coolin g .
5.3.5 lift up assemble d rotor on pump casing ,the convex semi- circle
of seal ring should be align ed with rabbit .
5.3.6 Check that the centerli ne of impel ler outlet align with the
centerli ne of volute of pump casing ,if misalig nment occurs ,adjust shaft
sleeve on both ends ,and then lock shaft sleeve .

Assembl e pump cover and tighte n nuts ,barring inspect .It should
rotate freely without abnor mal noise .
5.3.7 In turn assemb le each relative pipe and measur ing accessories
in places .

Ⅵ、Troubles and troubleshooting

Troub les Causes Remedi es

pumpin g water pipe ,the heigh t of suction resistance in discharge
pipe oversize ,air pene trat e pipe ,check the internal
into water suction pipe ,the resistance of suction
