4. Procedures
4.1 Introductory Activity
Q & A: (Ask the learners and generate ideas with the questions)
(5 minutes) Who among of you here knows how to drive a bicycle? A motorcycle?
What is our proof that we know how to drive? (we know how to balance)
4.3 Analysis Based on the following transactions, how do we prove the equality of debits and credits? What
(5 minutes) is a trial balance? How do we prepare a trial balance?
4.4 Abstraction
Discuss the Step 4 of the accounting cycle, which is preparing the trial balance. Tell the
(10 minutes) learners that if journalizing is done through a journal, posting is done through a ledger,
then balancing or proofing is done through trial balance. The following concept shall be
emphasized:
"A trial balance is a diagnostic tool. It is a report that summarizes the debit and credit
entries of each account in the ledger."
