Seminar for English speakers – Fall 2023

Dates Monday, October 9th, 2023 to Thursday, October 19th, 2023 (included)

Context The Ministry of Culture (Secretary General, Division of European and International
Affairs) offers this programme as part of its immersive exchange programmes for foreign
professionals.

"Séjour culture" are short individualised or semi-individualised stays that allow foreign
professionals to meet with French institutions in order to foster cooperation projects that
carry a specific connection to France.

The meetings will take place in English or with the help of an interpreter.

Audience This seminar is designed for experienced professionals conceiving and implementing
cultural projects and policies – including administrators of cultural institutions, managers
of government authorities and local authorities, managers designing and implementing
cultural policies - in their countries of origin (with no geographical exclusions).
Participants will have to select one of the four different subjects:
- Performing arts
- Visuals arts, design, fashion and crafts
- Architecture and heritage
- Book industry
- Cultural and creative industries
The seminar will rely on the experience of recognised professionals and cultural
managers from Paris and other regions in France.

Expenses covered The Ministry of Culture will cover :

- the organisation fees;
- cost of living (accommodation and daily allowance);
- travel expenses undertaken in France during the programme;
- insurances.

NB: the Ministry of Culture will not cover international travel expenses, which
must be covered by the candidate, his/her organisation, the Embassy of France,
Institut français of his country of residence, or by any other institution.

The completed application form must be sent to the Embassy of France (Cultural
Section) or the local “Institut français”. These services will then assess and stamp your
application, before submitting it to the ministry of Culture by March 30th, 2023 to contact-
international@culture.gouv.fr and sejoursculture@maisondesculturesdomonde.org

Applicants for the seminar will undergo a strict selection process by a panel made up of
representatives from the Ministry of Culture. Applicants will be selected based on the fol-
lowing criteria:
- the quality and professionalism of their application;
- the impact the seminar will have on the applicant’s institution;
- cooperation opportunities fostered by the seminar between institutions in the ap-
plicant’s country and in France, as well in the other countries represented at the
seminar.
