DESIGN DOCUMENT QUALITY

A fine example of a very compellingly presented and ongoing thoroughly documented

report. As it continues to positively build from week to week, you should require little
effort in compiling the final report due in a few weeks. The logical positive flow has
continued to be render your report being a fine example of strong communication
throughout. Even more commendable is your inspired motivation to progress
development farther than is currently expected. Bravo!

In the introduction of your report (previously submitted), you have adequately

described the IDEA. The Source, Root Meaning, and Relevance of the foundational
IDEA that has established the Basis of Design. The Memory of the SAIL (life’s
primary forces) serves as the inspirational generator of your solution geometry for
Architecture, visibly informs the logical geometry of describing the IDEA(S)
underlying your reception desk. Now serves you well to polish your description on
root meaning upcoming in assignment #8. I gather your adjectives for your reception
desk to include: warm; house like; ordinary; natural; light; and white.

A succinctly heart-felt writing style layered with discernible feeling, and compelling
graphics, are characteristic of your thoughtful and logical layout in producing this
elegant document. Interest is maintained from beginning to end.

DOCUMENT COMMUNICATION EFFECTIVENESS

There are five characteristics known as the 5-Cs of Effective Written Communication:
Connection, Clarity, Cause, Conciseness, and Correctness.

1. Connection - Good written communication forms a connection between the

reader and the writer.
2. Clarity - Effective written communication is clear and easy to understand.
3. Cause - The cause or reason for writing needs to be clear to both the writer and
the reader.
4. Conciseness - Good written communication is focused- to the point and doesn’t
deviate nor indulge in extraneous information.
5. Correctness - To be effective, the written communication should use the correct
tone, non-offensive language, and appropriate grammar.

Overall you score continues to trend evenly well across all five. Good job.

PROJECT DEVELOPMENT & CREATIVE PROCESS

Your project design development continues to reflect your ongoing abilities in Critical
thinking in the Creative Process. Demonstrated are active and skillful perception,
analysis, synthesis and evaluation of both abstract and referenced concepts is
communicated through your work.

According to Bloom’s Taxonomy there are 6-levels of Cognitive Functioning in the

ways we think; process our thoughts and Critical thinking gets us to level 5. Creativity
is the highest order of Cognitive Functioning; level-6 on Bloom’s scale. That’s all
about Design & Design Excellence as a Conscious Willful Act of purposeful
endeavor. You are demonstratively functioning at the Highest Orders of Cognitive
Thinking. You continue to see deeply into things; to create forms that have Relevance
and Meaning where Creativity produces New or Original Work. A delight to observe
your creative process.

Significantly demonstrated is the use of imagination to enable the mind to represent

images and ideas that are stated as envisioned. Design imaginations do in fact
connote meaning to our everyday reality, as well as other worlds that, oftentimes, lie
beyond our conscious understanding.

Excellent use of reference graphics, pertinent sketches, and concept model to

successfully translate 2-dimensional geometry into 3-dimensional forms of
Relevance. Promises much with regard to an Authentic Architecture of Relevance for
Children. Visibly demonstrated is your ability to comprehend a holistic view of all that
is functionally required and/or enhances the design.

Initial steps towards thinking about solving for noise abatement, absorbent dividing
wall partitions is practical and effective. Note that you'll have to be thinking more
along the lines of what is the percentage of total wall/floor/ceiling space. Probably in
the range of about 35-50% will have to provide for sound absorption versus sound
reflection. Going forward, simply describing how you intend to deal with it is more
importantly appropriate for the course. In other words, simply demonstrate your
thinking to solve the abatement of echoing sound that will result in the space like this.

Do note that I am not requiring the response to ADA regulations, which are federal
regulations and not state or local building codes. However, understand the current
design approach for the reception desk would ultimately have to address ADA
requirements.

Overall I applaud your continuing development and your creative process. Well done.

PROJECT DESIGN QUALITY

Design Quality for architectural plan based on final pattern geometry selected is
evaluated per the 10-Principles of Good Design. Numerical valuation is given per
criteria in parentheses.

Innovation- 10 (added value; unique solution; new; forward (out of box) thinking)
Functionality- 10 (function; efficiency; qualitative; quantitative; Code- +ADA)
Aesthetics- 10 (harmony; beauty; equilibrio; chimeric; joy (to instructor))
Intelligibility- 10 (form; flow; way finding; spatial attributes; solves all problems &
more)
Unobtrusiveness- 10 (welcoming; happy; grace; friendliness; intelligibility)
Authenticity- 10 (authentic; unique; relevant; originality)
Durability- 10 (timeless; enduring; curiosity; acceptance)
Detail- 10 (craftsmanship; demonstrated attention to detail)
Eco- 10 (sustainable; green; regenerative; COVID responsiveness)
Lean- 10 (minimal resources to realize; minimum investment; degree of
wastefulness, visual pollution; triviality)

You averaged a total score of 100%. A solid A+ which is Excellent. This sets the
expectation of same level of sophisticated development and performance level to be
carried throughout and into your final project development.
