Greetings, fellow delegates, and the honorable Executive Board.

This is the delegate of United States of

America.

Before we go on to discuss anything today, the delegate would sincerely appreciate if the committee
could come to a common consensus, about what Terrorism is. UN Security Council Resolution 1566
(2004) gives a definition:
criminal acts, including against civilians, committed with the intent to cause death or serious
bodily injury, or taking of hostages, with the purpose to provoke a state of terror in the general
public or in a group of persons or particular persons, intimidate a population or compel a
government or an international organization to do or to abstain from doing any act. As our respected
President affirmed in his 2010 National Security Strategy, one bears no greater responsibility than
ensuring the safety and security of mankind. Since 2001 the United States has worked with its partners
around the globe to put relentless pressure on these terrorist organizations. Despite our many
successes, they continue to pose a direct and significant threat to the world. These war fanatics have
forced upon us a zero-sum game: We destroy them, or they destroy us. And delay is defeat.

The death of Osama bin Laden marked the most important strategic milestone in our effort to defeat
Terrorism. while the fear of terrorists still continues to haunt, we continue to strike back. Whether it is
Al Qaeda or ISIS, US and its allies have been working tirelessly to concoct strategies to combat terrorism
which have showed commendable results on the ground level and we vow to continue doing so, till the
peace and security triumphs over evil.
