Nearsightedness (myopia) is a common vision condition in which you

can see objects near to you clearly, but objects farther away are blurry.
It occurs when the shape of your eye causes light rays to bend (refract)
incorrectly, focusing images in front of your retina instead of on your
retina. Wearing corrective lenses treats nearsightedness by
counteracting the increased curvature of your cornea or the increased
length of your eye.

light rays are focused in front of the retina, so that a minus concave lens
is needed to diverge the rays

Long sightedness is a refractive error caused by an imperfection in the

eye. The imperfection changes the way your eye focuses the light rays
that pass into it. This can happen when: The eyeball is shorter than
normal.A concave lens is used and glasses .
