Adjectives and adverbs

The car is slow. It moves slowly. He was quiet. He spoke quietly.

Přídavná jména vyjadřují vlastnosti podstatných jmen


– odpovídají na otázku what (jaký).
He was a horrible man.

Příslovce doplňují slovesa – odpovídají na otázku how (jak).


She opened her eyes quickly.

Příslovce utvoříme z přídavného jména a koncovky -ly.


careful – carefully loud – loudly
U příslovcí odvozených od přídavných jmen končících na -y dochází ke změně -y na -i.
easy – easily happy – happily
Tato příslovce jsou nepravidelná: fast – fast good – well hard – hard
