Students may opt out of any course that is listed in the table below.
In order to successfully opt out of a course, students must study the course materials on
their own and then score a minimum of 90% on the opt-out exam. If successful, this score
then becomes the subject score on their end-of-year report card.
Students who successfully opt out of a course can choose to do any of the following
options during class time:
Become an assistant teacher (includes shadow teaching and support in class activities).
Adopt a failing/struggling student. If the failing/struggling student shows improvement,
the opt-out student would be awarded extra credit (5%) on the opted-out course grade.
Study an additional course on their own.
