a. Generalize and test the pattern given by : 2, 4, 6, 8,10,…..
Un=2+(n-1)2
Un=2+2n-2
Un=2n

b. Generalize and test the pattern given by : 3,8,13,18,…

Un=5n-2

c. Find the expression for sum of patterns in question (a) and (b).
Un=2n+5n-2
Un=7n-2

d. Describe in words the nature of pattern found in question (c).

The combined pattern remains to be an example of arithmetic progression, but the differences
of 5 and 2 have combined to become 7.
The new pattern would be 5, 12, 19, 26…

e. Find the expression for the product of patterns in question (a) and (b).
Un=2n(5n-2)
Un=10n2-4n

f. Comment on the nature of pattern found in question(e) if it is A.P. or G.P.

Now the pattern is geometric progression as when we have multiplied the two formulas, we
have increased them both by a ration not by a certain fixed number.
