Cinemas

Do you like going to the cinema?

Answer 1

Absolutely yes! You know, I am a great film lover (= a movie buff). So I

love getting updated with all the latest blockbuster films (= box office films).
Also, at the cinema, you can experience better sound effects and visual quality.
You know, it’s so much fun and enjoyable when everyone is watching the film
together, laughing and crying at the same time.

Answer 2

Yeah, I really love going to the cinema. In fact, even if I’m not that interested in the
film, I enjoy the experience of going out to the cinema with my mates, watching
something on a huge screen, and eating popcorn. I especially love going to the CGV
cinema at Vincom Ba Trieu near my house. It mostly shows top box office foreign
films. The tickets are quite expensive but it values for money.

How often do you go to the cinema?

Answer 1

I would say at least twice a month because watching films especially at the cinema
is my all-time favourite pastime. As well as this, you can have a more
authentic/genuine feeling through a huge screen. You can feel the director’s
message all the more deeply. One example of this is the film Bohemian Rhapsody
which I will watch the 3rd time when it is rereleased.

Answer 2

I probably only go once every two or three months because the cinemas here
only show blockbusters and I’m not really into most of those films. I also have less
time now than I did when I was a student, and when I do have free time, I usually want
to hang out with my friends and have a chat, rather than sit down and watch films.

Did you go to the cinema when you was a child?

Yes, sometimes my parents would take my sister and I to the cinema at the
weekends. We were always excited because it didn’t happen often so it was a real
treat. One of my earliest memories is of watching the Lion king in the cinema
when I was a very small child.

Has your taste in films/ movies changed over the years?

I think my taste in films has matured as I’ve grown older. I’m not interested in
the superhero films that so many young people are obsessed with. I find
the endless CGI action sequences dull and kind of pointless. I prefer character
driven stories that are enhanced by beautiful cinematography and a decent
screenplay.
