Fibonacci Model

A model whereas a sender delivers the message to the receiver who will also turn into a sender and deliver the
message to people and it goes on and on and on until the whole world knows the said message.

Fibonacci Sequence
This model is called Fibonacci as it suggests a sequence of numbers that start from 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and so on. It is a
series in which each number is the sum of the two preceding ones. 1+1 is 2, 2+1 is 3, 3+2, is 5 and etc.

Transceiver
It is a term used to refer to people who acts as both the receiver that encodes and the sender that decodes the
message. It is a person that is a combination of both.

Example in Real Life

A real life depiction of this is Janine opening up to Diana about her problems in life. Diana sharing what Janine
told her to her two other friends, Nicole and Chiero. Afterwards, Nicole and Chiero told three other people, Jinger, Jes and
and Althea. This goes on continuously. This is equivalent to chismis in tagalog.

Pros of the Fibonacci model:

1. Social bonding: Fibonacci can help people connect and strengthen social bonds by sharing information and common
interests. Because the information conveyed by the speaker spreads quickly and reaches more people, it will continue until
everyone will know the said information. They will be interested or be curious and it will establish relationships and
connections.
2. Information sharing: Fibonacci model can convey important information about social norms, values, and expectations
within a group. Personal information is exchanged, collected, used, or disclosed by the sender to a receiver who will also
turn into a sender and tell everyone else.
3. Fast spread of information: Information spreads quickly because as the sender tells others, others will tell the rest, it
will resume until the entire world is aware. This can be done through the internet, or social media platforms.
4 Reach better audience coverage: Since the information is spreading fast, it will reach more people and audiences will
know about it. For instance, social media, since everyone with a reliable internet has unlimited access to it, they might
stumble across the information.

Cons of the Fibonacci model:

1. Trust erosion: Excessive gossip can erode trust within a group, making people feel insecure about sharing personal
information. Since the people you tell the message to might potentially tell others about what you said to them, people
will be more careful.
2. Risk of subject’s reputation: Fibonacci model can lead to spreading false or harmful rumors that can damage
reputations and relationships. Because the word spreads rapidly, information that people do not want to share to others,
such as the issues you have in life that you told someone else, might be shared and will risk the topic’s reputation.
3. Information in the wrong hands: If the information reaches the wrong people, the subject’s life might be affected.
The said information might get in the wrong hands and it will be misused. An example would be blackmailing.
4. Unreliable/Misleading inforrmation: There is a risk for miscommunication because as the information is passes from
one another, change to it will no be avoided. It will be modified little by little until it’s unrecognizable compared to the
actual message.
5. Unwanted consequences: Because everyone has told the story to the people they know and so on, of course the violent
reactions cannot be avoided, people can have a different view of the subject based on what they heard, albeit a positive or
a negative one.
