The ETABS geometric modeling has finished. So, it can show the model in 3d view by clicking button as
shown in figures below.
Go to Assign >> Shell >> Diaphragms and select “D1” in Diaphragm Assignments”. Then press OK.
Click on Set Plan View button and select “L3” to show diaphragm has been assigned to floor.
Specify parameters as shown below, ETABS will generate all cases based on code.
Enter “RS” to be a function name and specify parameters as shown in figure below.
Go to Assign >> Frame Loads >> Distributed and assign all parameters as shown in figure below. Then
press OK.
In 3D view.
Go to Select >> Select >> Properties >> Slab Sections.., and enter “S1-100” as shown in figure below.
Deselect floor L5 by going to Select >> Select >> Stories, then choose “L5” and press “Deselect”
and “Close”.
Go to Assign >> Shell loads >> Uniform.., and enter parameters as shown in figure below.
Deselect floor L2 to L4 by going to Select >> Select >> Stories, then choose “L2” to “L4” by holding
mouse click and press “Deselect” and “Close”.
The Excel sheet for Load Combination Input, Names in load case column must be same as load case name
in ETABS (can be checked from Define >> Load Cases).
Part 1 Part 2
Click on “From Excel” button , then click on “Apply to Model” and “Done”.
Note: Scale Factors are from maximum safety factor for Mass (Dead + SDEAD) in ultimate load combination
For P-Delta used in service load combination, this scale factors will be more conservative.
No warning
Check the information of this analysis by going to Analyze >> Last Analysis Run Log.
Make sure the modal participating mass ratios for UX, UY and RZ at least 90 percent of total mass. (“SumUX”,
“SumUY” and “SumRZ” at last mode > 0.9)

Step 12-8: Display Displacement Table due to Wind Load for All Corner Nodes at Roof
Go to Display >> Show Tables and select parameters as shown below, click on “Select Load Cases” and
select “WIN”.
Note: Wind speed used in this analysis is for ultimate load. To check displacement, wind speed for service
load is required. Please refer to NSCP to scale wind speed and the displacement in above table.

Step 12-10: Display Story Drift Table due to Seismic Load for All Corner Nodes
Go to Display >> Show Tables and select parameters as shown below, click on “Select Load Cases” and
select “RSPX” & “RSPY”.
The maximum story drift due to “RSPX” and “RSPY” in above table will be multiplied with 0.7 x R and
compared with the limit.

To see design details, right click on failure beams to display design information, click on “Details” to see
design details. In “Design Details” window and select “Shear Details” tab. At page 2 for “Shear Details”
shows message “Shear stress due to shear force and torsion together exceeds maximum allowed”

Step 13-11: Reduce the Torsion stiffness in Beas and Reanalysis + Redesign
To avoid this failer, the torsion stiffiness for all beams can be partially released by repeating Step 8-1: for
Assign Property Modifiers for Beams (Page 56) and reducing “Torsional Constant” together with “Moment
of Inertia about 3 axis” then run + design again and check “Identify Shear Failure”.
Click on “Export to Word Document” button and specify the location to save MS Word file.
One warning will be displayed due to no slab design results (design strip) not be conducted in ETABS model.
Click on “OK” to accept this warning
Note: If torsion in beams have not been reduced (at page 93), two more warnings for shear stress in beams
will be reported.
CSiDetail will generate objects (plans, sections and details) accordingly to specified parameters. Click on items
in left columns to view each object one by one.
In left column shows 49 drawings have been added into “Drawing Sheets”. Each drawing can be viewed by
clicking in each item under “Drawing Sheets”.
