ETABS Tutorial Example: Structural Analysis & Design of 5 Story RC Building for SESS2022 by ASEP

Data from ETABS

Vt = Total base shear for Response Spectrum Analysis
Vt = 1,907 kN (RSPX) ➔ Total Base Shear due to Response Spectrum Analysis (Factor = I/R)
Vt = 1,968 kN (RSPY) ➔ Total Base Shear due to Response Spectrum Analysis (Factor = I/R)
Vs = 2,174 kN ➔ Total Base Shear due to Static Equivalent

Calculate Scale Factor for RS

Refer to NSCP-2015 ➔ Vt > 0.9 Vs
0.9 Vs = 0.9 x 2,174 = 1,957 kN
Scale Factor for RS = 0.9 Vs / Vt
Scale Factor for RSPX = 1,957 / 1,907 = 1.03
Scale Factor for RSPY = 1,957 / 1,968 = 1.00
