SALT SPRAY TESTS

- Our steel test panel size is 150x100x3mm

- The panels are sweep blasted to SA 2,5 with a roughness Rz 50-70µm. So the
surface is very active. Please keep the panels in the plastic packaging as long as
possible. There they are protected by humidity catching additives (blue gel)
and inert gas. Please open the packaging just before coating and consume
complete packages.
- One side of the panels shell be fully coated with your samples in a dry film
thickness of 2mm. The total thickness of the coated panels shouldn’t exceed
5mm. Otherwise we will have problems to install the panels in the test
chamber.
- The scratch shell be 50 mm long, 2 mm wide, minimum 12,5 mm away from
each long edge of the panel and minimum 25 mm away from one of the short
edges of the panel, as illustrated as follows.
Each panel shell have only one scratch. The scratch shell cut completely
through the paint coating (1) and into the steel panel (2).

- We are using a milling tool for that. Our coatings are more brittle than your
adhesives and the film thickness is much lower. So I doubt wether that is the
right tool here, too. Please try that for yourself. At the moment I haven’t an
idea of a suitable tool. If necesarry we could agree other widths than 2mm. But
it shouldn’t be lower than 1mm.
