DID YOU KNOW THAT THE MOON IS THE ONLY NATURAL SATELLITE THAT
REVOLVES AROUND THE EARTH ?
The moon was born from a collision between the Earth and a planet similar to Mars 4.5
million years ago and is located 384,400 kilometers from the Earth. It is known that our
planet and the moon are made of the same material, and rotate in sync with the Earth.
Despite being solid, rocky and dark, it is the second brightest body after the sun, with its
unique characteristics of craters and basins. Due to its weak atmosphere, it is not
protected from impacts such as meteorites or other bodies, so if a body is impacted it
can generate a layer of piles of debris. The moon is of utmost importance since it
moderates the movement of the planet on its axis and
thus allows the climate to stabilize. An interesting fact
is that it causes the Earth's tides due to the attraction of
gravity.
THE PHASES OF THE MOON
The illuminated part of the moon sets, creating the
lunar phases. In a month we can see eight different
phases, which are defined by the proportion of the
lunar disk that is illuminated. The phases of the moon
are: New Moon, Waxing Moon, First Crescent Moon,
Waxing Gibbous Moon, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous Moon, First Quarter Moon, Waning
Quarter Moon, Blue Moons and Super Moons.

LUNAR ECLIPSES
They occur when a planet or moon gets in the way of
sunlight and there are three types: partial, total and
penumbral. The "red" or "blood" moon occurs when the
air molecules present on Earth absorb almost all the
blue light, leaving red light (the only light the Moon
emits).
THE MOON AS HUMAN BELIEFS
Just like humanity, the moon is so ancient and is part of
mythology. It is believed to be the heart where humanity takes refuge and where
humanity is reflected. Plato defines it as "the eternal return" which is why humanity
began to believe in life after death. They also believe in the relationship between the
female cycle and the moon since it was believed that each woman possessed the
powers of the universe: giving life, sustaining and creating. That is why the lunar
goddesses exist, which were: Artemis, Selena and Hecate. In the case of astrology, it
represents the maternal role, the home and the family. Likewise, she connects the
human being with her inner child and acts as a symbol of security. In addition, it is
expressed that the Moon is similar to the stomach, since this is our second heart. On
the other hand, it also served to measure time. The moon has been a great tool to
understand the process of human life, time and the emotions.
